Just break the tip off an exacto blade and scribe with the back side.

OK, 25 pounds of silicone and ive got a couple molds and also molded the cone parts in concrete. and will cast these in concrete for a vac form pattern.

Damn Al it took about 20 pounds of Silicone to mold my APC hull it takes 25 pounds just to mold One Part on your model! Holy cow Lol. This thing is a beast.

What did you use to put your mold boxes together? I would have thought that much rubber would have blown out the sides.

Two words. Hot glue. That stuff is strong. Sometimes its hard to break the box open.

I pulled the patterns out of the molds and layed up some parts. finally starting to look like the betty. the parts are mocked up to check for fit and to allow for future parts attachment. Need to plan for the attachment of the Scorpion tail, and for wiring for lights.

What gel coat do you personally use? Is there a specific technique you use when adding your layers? I.e. do you apply the gel coat, then wait a certain time frame, then lay in your glass, then apply the epoxy? I want to try your technique.

Shizman, ill have to get back to you on the part numbers for the gel coat. But what i do is. Mix the gel coat i like to use my fingers to push the gel coat into all the fine details to make sure i get all the air out (no bubbles) then use a chip brush to spread the rest out. Heres the trick to no air bubles in the gel. Take a heat gun and lightly warm the gel coat up and brush it smooth. The heat brings all the bubbles to the surface and just brush them out. Let dry until tacky/ firm about 20 to 30 mins depending on your temp. The lightly wet out the gel coat with epoxy. And add your mat. And repeat depending on how many layers you want. I usually do 2 to 3. Also. Dont over soak the mat. The drier the part the stronger it is.

Oh yeah. When using a heat gun on the gelcoat. Do it very quickly. No more than 45 seconds. Dont want to accelerate the curing and have a bad part. Keep it moving and dont concentrate the heat in one spot for to long.
