Spray On Chrome (Cosmichrome) + Pepakura (Daft Punk Thomas Build)

I'm really close to finishing the electronics for my Thomas helmet, and am starting to think about which bucket I should use.

In an ideal world I'd be getting a Volpin cast, but pride is telling me I should give it a go myself.

With Pepakura I like the concept of making something from basically nothing (paper). I've seen a lot of Thomas Pepakura models out there, that look good bondoed, rondoed and painted. But none have been chromed with spray on chrome (cosmichrome). IMHO a Thomas helmet needs to be done in chrome.

Would a Pepakura Thomas helmet reenforced with bondo, resin, fibreglass and primer withstand the spray on chrome (cosmichrome) process? Budget wise Pepakura is very alluring alluring vs buying a cast, but if it can't be chromed it might be a deal breaker.

More than likely, pep armour once hardened and rondo'd/fiberglassed, will withstand pretty much any form of spray painting (unless this cosmichrome is some form of really, really strong acid : )

Going back to volpin, He did create a fiberglass one because his resin ones couldn't survive the chroming process. Sooo by that logic, If yours if fiberglassed i can't see why it wouldn't survive chroming

I was under the impression he switched to fiberglass because the resin ones warped under their own weight. That was what happened to mine anyway.

Volpin's thomas helmets are resin. The chroming process isn't the traditional oven method. Thomas helmets are hydrochrome therefore the material doesn't matter.

Thanks for the tips guys. I seem to have read that people re-enforce Volpin's resin helmets with fibreglass on the inside prior to chroming. If you look at tekparasite's thread, you can see that he had warping after Cosmichrome. The back of the helmet flattened and the ear pucks didn't fit as well.

Anyone have reference to to a cosmichromed/hyrdochromed a pepakura model reinforced w fibreglass?
