**SPOILERS** New RoS prop image **SPOILERS**

Does anyone know whether Kylo's hilt in TROS has the matte black look of TLJ or the weathered look of TFA? I know there were some very good close-ups of it during the scene with Han. Does anyone have screenshots? Thanks!

I am dying to see screen caps of it. Is it a entirely new crossguard?

We know TLJ crossguard was new, with a less weathered finish

I honestly think from what I saw the first time that the TRoS crossguard is new as well.. the quillions ends are really thick.. thicker then I ever remembered

Only saw the movie once so I can’t really confirm until I see more of it

It sure did look different...

Finding images for the updated guidebook-- it looks like the TROS version of Kylo's saber is back to the TFA style paintjob. The only other difference people have spotted is the greeblie box inside the base of the hilt is flipped compared to TFA and TLJ.

Basically, given that it is a scratch-made saber, all three movies have used the same 3D printed parts for construction, but each time they are assembled and painted differently.

The one other big detail to notice is that the stunt versions don't have the pass-through windows in the base around that greeblie box.

Hey all, adding an alternative tsuka for my model that has no lip since it's there in one shot and disappears the next. It's very properly annoying. Enjoy. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4059948

I’m pretty sure the opening gash on kylos crossguard is different in TLJ?

(Spoiler warning for the preview text, stop reading...)

Majorly bummed she converted her staff into a saber. I want more original hilt designs in this film.

That said, Leia’s saber is awesome. Like a classy, elegant and ornate version of Obi-Wan’s.
Curious... seemed like a logical conclusion for rey to make a sabre from her staff-what bummed you out in particular?
Also, it doesnt seem to look any other sabre in the trilogy so what would count as original to you?

What I meant by an original design was a prop that was purpose designed to be a saber rather than a repurpose of the staff.

If it had been a double bladed saber that took advantage of the staff’s proportions I’d be more okay with it.

But as a single bladed saber the design just doesn’t work for me. Even though it’s huge it looks like it only has one spot to comfortably grip it. That doesn’t jive with what we’ve seen of Rey’s fighting style. The activation mechanism is awesome though.

I've just been to see the film a second time and have noticed something I didn't catch the first time around with Rays Graflex sabre.
In the scene in the desert where Ray faces off to Ren's tie fighter and she removes the sabre off her belt. first thing there is no D ring on the end of the hilt now and second they have cut a slot in one of the T rail grip pieces so it slips behind the belt, this can be clearly seen while shes holding the sabre.
I would imagine to replicate this now one of the rubber grip pieces will have to be replaced with an aluminium one to make it strong enough and screwed to the handle.

I think KR's version actually uses a steel grip clip. There are also an additional four screws on the grip, two at the top and two at the bottom
