TerranCmdr, I dig that so freaking hard. That's some nice work. Even if it's hard to move and feels fragile, it's still really impressive. And so far not a lot of folks are showing their hands with respect to their own mechanisms it seems like. I'm still playing around with mine, but I'm going to backburner it and focus on my version with the blade.
And I'm glad you came to similar measurements. It's always nice to know that you're not off by yourself!

Just wanna say you guys are awesome and I love how encouraging and helpful everyone is to one another. Can't wait to post my finished saber.
YOU are doing a killer job-- my criticisms are of the original design. As a detective/builder you are crushing it.

Had a spat of semi-decent weather, so I got the first coat of primer/filler on and sanded it down.
I've been chugging away at the electronics. The modified version of my CAD files to fit the microcontroller and speaker is done and it (juuuuuust barely) fits the wiring harness, so there's that. I'm tweaking the code so that before the blade turns on and goes yellow, it will do the super quick green/blue flash through the maul cone.

actually, this IS helpful for my work on ours. This shows that the tip ring gap has blade vents. NIIICE. I will add that. Thank you!
And I already adjusted....
not done yet because I need to adjust for the bars. But now I also now know how to handle the bars between the rings AND allow both an FX and static looking cap. Also explains why the holes in the face of the emitter because that is how that last ring affixes

i remember reading in some sort of addendum or something (not sure if canon or not) that Luke's green saber is being cared for by the indigenous Jedi temple caretakers where he was living and passed on to the force.
I've heard this as well. I wish we had more info on the lore and culture of the caretakers. That way we could make a prop box, or vessel of some kind for everyone's Luke sabers in the supposed state it's in now! It'd be an interesting thing to start a build thread on! Would anyone be interested in that!? You could even throw in a copy of Obi-Wans Journal and Luke's compass!
I hoped Luke had stored it inside R2-D2 ROTJ style and as some point in EP9 R2 would launch it to Rey (or Leia) at a critical moment but....... that's just fan fiction now.
