Spiderman : Brand New Day suit

New suit reveal just went up.
Thoughts?

My good thoughts-
I love Tom as Spiderman, I love the treatment that Garfield and Maguire got in the last film… we know that Holland’s Spiderman was inspired by his counterparts so, in playing to the teaser it looks like he’s adapted the elements of their suit.

Tbh- I like the thought and the elements they borrowed from each. A blend of spiders is- fun?

The Bad
…but I feel they went too copy/paste from both and we totally lost the Stark / MCU Parker influence.
I really, really wish they would have kept the red on his chest and shoulders away from the armpits- it’s not flattering… especially when it worked so well on his previous suits.
Red belt position also feels like the TASM2 suit which, I think worked for Garfield’s longer torso but not Tom’s.
Maybe in action it won’t read badly…

He does seem to be wearing a muscle suit, or at the vert least he's not out of shape but the lack of printed shadowing is making it look flat in the lighting provided. Ofcourse, who knows how much this will be CGd over

Finally, a suit that looks homemade like the comics. Personally, I hate the Ironman Junior suit. THIS is Spiderman. Can't wait for more pictures!!

Webshooter length is a little surprising. I wonder at what point in the script they are filming.
Suit tag says “hero”… so i wonder if there would be any other suits outside battle damage

Has very TASM2 vibes to me with brighter colors and the Holland-era eyes.

Really reflects the idea of a homemade suit. Should be a great opportunity for cosplayers to recreate!

I do love the way it's a frankenstein of all three Spider-Men's suits. TASM2 sewing pattern but with red Raimi bricks (I know TASM 2 has the bricks too, but here it varies in size like the Raimi one), raised brick pattern on the blue like TASM2 but with blue instead of black, MCU webbing pattern but with TASM 2 webs, logo reminds me of the Raimi one mixed with the No Way Home final swing suit, slightly bigger MCU eyes (reminds me a bit more of the PS4 game), and finally webshooters reminiscent of his homemade suit in the first movie.

Part of me thinks they took the "new for him, but reminiscent of suits he’s seen before" line in the No Way Home screenplay a *bit* too seriously, and I admit I am a bit disappointed with the textures of the suit— I was excited to see if they'd stick with the woven screen-printed pattern or update it with something new, the last thing I expected was a design from 2002. A bit worried they're more focused on fan appeal than what's going to look best, but luckily the suit looks great. Though I also think the shooters look a bit clunky/I'm always a bigger fan of hidden web shooters, but again it still looks good!


I too wonder if we're getting another suit since the up close shots of the spider+webs don't necessarily match what we've seen in the reveal video/on set.

Looks good. I agree that it's nice that his suit finally looks homemade. I wish they would've kept the 'fat' spider for the back emblem though.

If I'm honest... The only suits that have looked truly homemade to me are the "Human-Spider" wrestler and Homecoming hoodie costumes. Anything with 3D screen printing like that always makes me deduct points for DIY ability just cuz I'm bitter at how, as a broke teenager and college student, I was not able to replicate the effect without expensive inks and larger/expensive equipment. Looks about as homemade as the one we saw in the final swing (as little as we saw it.)

Though I'll give this one extra points because not all the sewing looks totally uniform.
