Interest Spates Catalog by Magnoli Props

Was doodling and I drew Solomon Grundy because I saw it in your list. (I'm also an obsessed Batman fan). If it's not taken, I'll write that one. I assume you want no references to Batman. More of an origin story of Solomon with a zombie story kind of vibe... a lot of reported sightings, missing persons, and urban legends type thing (like Bigfoot stories).

funny you should mention batman... I just sent Indy an idea, Not Solomon Grundy related so no worries on your idea

There are some great supernatural Batman villains to reference. You could even make a case for a story about Batman in the vein of an urban legend Ala' Mothman. I didn't suggest it because I thought it was a little too far out of the realm of the book... but in an enquirer styled magazine, it's possible.

Well, we've got Mothman and Spring-Heeled Jack, so an article about a "Bat-Man" roaming the streets at night isn't a far stretch for Spates. Especially as the early sightings in the late 1930s before he becomes too well known. After all... he is pretty much a "Nameless Horror".

Done and done. Working on pictures now

Here are a few more ideas that could give us some articles from earlier eras (1900s-1940s say) if they strike anyone:

King in Yellow - evil/powerful book and also person - dates to late 1800s

Mokele-mbembe - supposed dinosaur in Africa, a lot of stuff for the 1910s and 1920s

The Mad Gasser of Mattoon - a really weird case from the 1940s in America

Well, I was thinking about Crybaby Tunnel. It's kinda a urban myth, in the U.S. Anyway. I could write it in maybe a 1940's or 1950's time frame, with the over the top kinda way about it.

Could work... maybe do a little research and see if there are any other "cursed" tunnels or similar stories that could be dovetailed into a single article.

Ok, I'm sure there is probably one in every state! I'll look into it

Pennsylvania: Green Man's Tunnel, about the 1950's in Allegheny County

Maryland: The Paw Paw Tunnel, reports of hauntings go back to the 1860's

Just a couple I know off the top of my head

Well I think the best bet, is to focus on tunnels. The cry Baby myth is just too many! most are listed as a bridge. They
pretty much have the same story, and end result with bridges being more popular ( with at least 5 to 10 per state, just boring).
But tunnels themselves, give more interesting results, with a listing of around 10 as the most haunted.

Blue Ghost Tunnel (Merritton Tunnel) – Canada (1876)

Located in Ontario, this abandoned railway tunnel was the site of a deadly train collision in 1903.

Reports of ghostly figures, eerie voices, and unexplained lights have led to its reputation as one of Canada’s most haunted places.

Sensabaugh Tunnel – Tennessee, USA (Early 1900s)

Legend says a man named Sensabaugh murdered his family in this tunnel.

Visitors report hearing a baby crying, disembodied voices, and seeing shadowy figures.

Hoosac Tunnel – Massachusetts, USA (1873)

Nicknamed the "Bloody Pit" due to the deaths of nearly 200 workers during construction.

Strange lights, phantom voices, and ghostly apparitions have been reported inside the tunnel.

Moonville Tunnel – Ohio, USA (1856)

A train tunnel in an abandoned mining town where several people were killed by trains.

Ghostly figures carrying lanterns and eerie whispers are commonly reported.

Zenza Tunnel – Japan (1897)

This tunnel in Kyushu was built using forced labor, and many workers died during its construction.

It is rumored to be haunted by their restless spirits.

A few I've found

Yea, some of these are on my list, just gotta fit them altogether.

Solomon Grundy is written and an image created. I'm going to proofread and clean it up. I should send everything by the end of the week.

Indy have you figured out where the book chapters are lightest so we can concentrate on these types of articles for you?
Chris

Right now it does seem to be balanced pretty well the way I intended, with the first section (on Ghosts and Haunted Places) being the fullest, and the others being more or less balanced with each other. So, for now at least, I think we can just keep producing articles organically and I'll keep an eye out on how things are spreading out.

Just inserted a few more articles, bringing the page count to 125... officially HALF WAY! I've got a few more pending articles to place, so we're looking good so far...
