Sounds and Lights Tech Question / Toy Mod / Buzz Lightyear

Ok, so I have the arduous task of building a Buzz Lightyear costume for my son by Halloween. Never done armor before... so yea... lots of challenges.

Here is my initial question. Would it be possible to buy the talking doll,
take it apart
rip its guts out
pull the wires and speaker and buttons
rewire on a new larger full size speaker
and actually make a LOUDER version to go into a full size costume

(sounds too simple)

so it probably won't work, but am I on the right track, or is this impossible?

I´d say you better buy a very cheap mp3-player and a set of cheap battery operated boxes to go with that.

Technically, yes. But as for the speakers and such, you would need to get those wearable waist amplifiers or something. However, since its a costume, be prepared for a lot of broken wires or snapped off connections..... and oh yeah, batteries running out of juice halfway.

Still, it would be very interesting to see how it would go...
