Sons of Anarchy

I thought last nights episode was good but not great. I found it very predictable. Although I'm glad Tara is gone, now they just need to get rid of Gemma since she is really the only annoying cast member left imo

While I'd normally be tempted to claim this is all stunt casting, I don't think it really is. The Venus Van Damme storyline was actually fairly interesting, and Walton Goggins did a terrific job in the role. Courtney Love has proven herself to be a capable actress in the past, and I could see her fitting into this world. I'm less sanguine on Marilyn Manson being involved, but who knows. It might just be a one-off episode for him, or a 2-ep arc. Regardless, I'm pleased to see that this is the final season, and I hope they're writing the show to wrap up effectively (although I doubt it'll end happily).

I think Kurt has said it'll end in pretty much a bloodbath. I'm looking forward to that, though.

I agree, I think Walton did a fantastic job with Venus' character. The last episode she was in, where they helped save her son, was amazing. The thing with Tig was a bit disturbing, but hey, it's Tiggy. *shrug*

Manson is apparently going to be the leader of some white supremacist group in prison, I think. Very interesting, and I think you're probably right. It'll likely be a one-off or 2-episode story arc. We have yet to hear what kind of character Courtney will be playing, but I'm excited to see all of it. Honestly, I think the directors and Kurt have made this show as amazing as it is. They have had several "real" bikers on the show (as in, not actors) and they never came across as amateurs. So despite misgivings about Manson, I think he's in good hands. IIRC, the guy who plays Happy is one of the bikers-turned-actor

Holy crud..... Tonight made me feel 10 pounds heavier and I didn't even eat anything during it! One more episode left. SOOOOOO much happened.

I've been waiting 3 seasons for what went down last night. Thanks god

Yeah, that whole thing was intense…

And Jax seemed way too calm after the table with the other club presidents...

I was honestly surprised that Jax went through with it in the end.

Watching this show as a writer is kind of like taking a master class on murdering your darlings or how to torture characters for fun and profit. I've learned a lot from what Kurt Sutter's done on this show and am both looking forward to, and dreading, next week.

I mean, if you knew that Hamlet was the basis for this, then you pretty much knew the broad strokes of what's gonna happen this season. Which is why I basically stopped watching about 4 episodes ago. Things were just DRAGGING.

Glad to see they wrapped up several long-time-coming plot points, but I have a hard time maintaining any enthusiasm for this show anymore.

I'm sad to see this show come to an end, but I do think they're stopping at the right time as there really wasn't anywhere left to go after everything that's happened over the past 7 seasons. It's amazing to go back and look at all the characters from the first season and realize that basically none of them are left now. You've really only got Jax, Chibs and Tig.....everyone else is dead! I didn't think any show would ever kill off more main characters than The Sopranos, but SoA has eclipsed their body count by leaps and bounds. I don't know how Sutter is going to wrap this whole thing up, but I really do think Jax has to die. I just can't see any scenario where he lives after all the horrific stuff he's done, especially this season.

Well...if we're emulating Hamlet...then, yeah. I see Jax as Hamlet and Chibs as Horatio. Jax dies, SAMCRO folds, and that's that.

I think it'll end with a flash forward of Abel reading a journal from Jax. The son repeating the father's mistakes, etc.

I agree that in some respects we'll see Able in the future reading Jax's journal and possibly on JT's restored bike.
Loving the show...and I'm going to miss it when it's all over.

With SoA ending and Justified's last season coming up that will be two of my all-time favorite shows going away. I hope FX has another great series on the horizon. The Americans is OK, but I can't get into it the way I do SoA, Justified, The Shield, etc.

I hope Kurt Sutter eventually does the prequel show "The First Nine" he's talked about that tells the story of how John Teller formed SAMCRO.

I hope so as well, but last I heard I thought he said if he did do it, it would be a movie. Which still would be fine with me

Man, I wish Terriers was still on. That show could've been real good if the network suits didn't have their heads up their rear end

I still miss Terriers too. It was an outstanding show. SOA is a show I've had so many issues with that I nearly stopped watching a few times. But I'm glad I stuck with it. The show is better than most others on TV, even with the flaws and slow storytelling. I have a feeling Sutter is going to end the show on a positive note. Not sure why I feel that way, but I don't expect him to end the show with Abel reading a diary. I hope he moves on to something new. I don't have much interest in a prequel show, but I'm kind of against prequels in general. ;)
