CASEY STILL HASN'T DARKENED THE HAIR, BUT HE DID SEND ME SOME MORE PHOTOS. DO BLONDS HAVE MORE FUN? SEE LAST PAGE.
I didn't forget you guys. Linda Blair [The Excorcist] has been haired. Unfortunately, when rooted on the painted Blair Head, the hair appears much lighter than it did in the packaging.
Okay, geeks, tell me your suggestions and soon I'll tell you what Casey Love actually did. Then I'll post pictures of how it turned out.
See the last post for an update photo.
Through the various evolutions of my collecting hobby, my love for Halloween has remained constant. For a while I collected masks. I still have most of the nicest masks and busts
that I bought, including two masterpieces from Russ Lukich, who occasionally graces this board as "Barlowe".
Some of the masks of which I was most enamoured were made by Alvarez Studios. You can see much of Henry [and family] 's work here: http://www.alvarezwax.com . Look under the latex mask section if you are a Halloween or Horror fan.
Unfortunately, two of the masks/busts which I coveted are no longer made by Henry or [just as importantly] painted by his wife Andrea. My disappointment was great.
I did manage to procure two blanks [unpainted copies] of two of the masks which I best loved. [Face Hugger and Linda Blair] And then I ran into a wall.
Andrea Alvarez is THE best painter of masks and busts I have ever seen. But she no longer paints. So what do you do? After all the time and expense I underwent to obtain those blanks, I couldn't have them painted by just anybody. I wanted them done by someone who could do justice to the pieces, not someone who would leave them with pitted teeth and call that good enough. [Right, LordoftheProps?]
Eventually I found the guy who I wanted to paint my masks. But he's not always available. Sometimes there's studio work to do. Sometimes he's concentrating on his own projects. Sometimes I'm just broke and penniless.
So those two masks have remained for three or four years, shrouded in plastic bags, housed in cardboard boxes, forgotten in my basement along with other things. [A friend once told me that my basement was like a small scale version of the hangar which comes to house the Ark in RotLA. ]
But no longer! The stars have aligned and these two pieces are finally going to be finished the way they deserve to be! Without further ado, I present...THE FACEHUGGER!
