So what happened to the Effects Lab?

The Effects Lab was a great site and I know there were a lot of RPFers over there. Any idea what happened to it? There were some really nice tutorials about sculpting skin texture, among many, many other things. However, it seems to be down now and has been for a while. I can see on the internet Archive that it was up as recently as January but nothing since then.

Any idea what happened?

After Joe Lester passed away, I believe the forum switched hands. Not sure who it went to, but I assume they just couldn't keep it up.

While an absolute treasure trove of archived info, not much had been going on over there since 2012 to be honest.

The site went down about 6 weeks back due to being hacked. Everything on the servers has apparently been lost. The site feel into the hands of Joe Lester's brother who continued to run the site for awhile, but with the site been hacked, the low traffic and costs involved I believe he has decided to let it rest, he recently posted more information on facebook about the hacking, recent events and the outcome

I was one of the Moderators of the Effects Lab & Yes it was Hacked but much of what was lost has be restored, the site is now there as much as could be saved & the original Tutorials are still there also, it's a Shame it won't be the same as it was with the Forums but it took a lot of work to keep it running!

Such a bummer, that site was an awesome way to get a lot of answers from a lot of expierenced people. Who the hell would hack that site ya know? I also heard that a lot of the regular posters are part of a facebook group that you have to be invited to. Such a shame it got hacked, but glad some of the stuff was saved.
