Chuck (BladeFanChuckster) has a thread going about battle-damaged hull plating and has this pic as a sample:

I didn't want to stomp on his thread, so I'm reposting the pic here to see if anybody has the details on this piece.

Was this screen used?

If so, where's the starboard docking port?

It was one of the close up pieces built for ST:II or III for close in camera shots. I believe it was on display at Christies Auction.

As quoted from the Christie's Star Trek Auction Book 2:

"Enterprise Photon Torpedo Tunes And Engineering Hull Section

An enlarged model of part of the Starship Enterprise's photon torpedo tubes with part of the cigar-shaped Engineering hull and interconnecting neck, with lower part of the warp engine nacelle struts-48 x 24 27 in-made for Star Trek III: The Search For Spock

More detailed than the principle 8 ft. Enterprise, this model was used for the closeup "can openeer shot" in Star Trek II: The Wrath Of Kahn, where a phaser blast from Reliant tore open the Enterprise's hull. It was later refurbished and used in other closeups, including the photon torpedo launch shot in Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country."

Hope this helps,

Evan

I believe that Karl (Phase Pistol) took those photos along with a truck load of others.

Please credit him if this is K's photo
