skyrim steel armor

hello everyone ! theres been a few projects of mine that i've kept to myself, for no apparent reason , i simply forgot to post my progress
anyway , this armor in particular, was inspired by andrew cook, aka, DaFrontline Trooper, i wanted to make a steel armor from Skyrim
after looking trough TONS of reference pics, and messing around with the in game model (from my trusty xbox) i managed to sketch out a template, for every piece of armor, i went to a flea market and bought my materials, i found EVA foam by the meter and its cheaper and in various densities and thickness i used a 1", 6mm and 2mm craft foam (i think...) and instead of using heat gun ('cuz those are waaay over my budget right now) i used the stove as a heat source (using it carefully of course, i don't want to burn my hands nor my armor)
first i used the craft foam for the small details, over the 1" foam

then i added the 6mm over the craft foam
here's the almost finished chest, i still had to glue the middle





i also made some shoulder pieces (these were not used in the final product since i couldn't figure out a way to strap them to the armor or to my body, also, my deadline (halloween) was just around the corner)




then, using my super awesome ability and knowlege in fabrics (none), i cut the fingers off a pair of cheap white gloves that i dyed/painted with acrylic paint (to my surprise it had a bit of a leather-ish look), and i made some straps using some thin elastic for the hand pieces, for the "rivets" i used split pins


i also made the forearm pieces but i didn't take a pic

and of course, i couldn't resist making the iron helmet, i used this guy's tutorial video of the helmet

next, i made the steel sword using styrene and craft foam

i made the "waist" section out of the 6mm and craft foam, i also made the boots (but i don't have any pics)





i also started painting the base colors


these are the base painted boots




also, for the forearms (no pics... again) i used a foam sheet covered with brown fabric for the section under the armor
on the boots i used brown craft foam for the "leather", also i used some small belts i bought
i spent around a week looking around the city to buy fur, i managed to find some on a fabric store that was kinda hidden

after this i used black acrylic paint, sometimes watered down, to the weathering




for the helmet, not inly did i do the painting, but i also used my Soldering iron that i bought to burn some details , in this piece specifically, scratches, i'm particularly really proud of this helmet





i then added fur to the pieces

Not sure how I missed this before, the armor looks epic. Great work with the layering for the scroll detail, looks amazing.

an nice little story to acompany this pics, the students who were allowed to enter the costume contest were from elementary and high school, anyway, even if we were not allowed to participate on the costume contest the teaches made us go to the "exhibition" (on the soccer field in the photo), then, out of nowhere, a teacher who was announcing the winners, who knows the stuff i do , by stuff i mean cosplay and props, said my name and told me to step forward next to the winners, then said "by the way, not only his costume is cool, but he made it himself!" i was stunned when i heard applause, and i won a free costco chocolate chip cookie, so ...
