Skin color of Frankenstein's monster

Getting ready to work on a vinyl kit of Frankenstein's monster.
Shelly's novel describes it as yellow but I want to paint it accurate to the 1931 Universal film make-up.
Descriptions I've found on the interwebs say it was either blue, or green or flesh colored.

Any of you cats ever come across a credible reference to what the make-up looked like "in real life?"

I'm starting to think green may be the way to go. There was another reference on the CLASSIC HORROR FILM board that mentioned "greenish metallic" but I couldn't quite get my head around the metallic part.

I'm not sure if these photos have been colourised;

I don't know if I can tell the difference.
Maybe there's a photoshop jock in here that can tell.

Now that you mention it. Deathly pale may be the way to go. Maybe I'll go for what they intended.
