Sith World Vader suits info

Well, okay, so my question still remains: who DOES make the best, most accurate undersuit? CSMacLaren, you have only criticized some, not suggested others that might be better.

Rick

If you've seen any of my articles or posts over the years on The Prop Den, then please don't try to depict me as a person who criticizes without offering solutions. I was responding, in general, to the first post to help people become more informed. Also bear in mind that your question (which is the best and most accurate?) is different than that of the original poster (which is a good deal that's not a POS?). So please don't try to make me out as a bad guy when you were the one who changed the topic altogether. I've been helping people tirelessly for years, as I started out as a complete n00b and took a lot of authoritative advice from cosplay people that set me back financially and did not help me reach my goals.

The solution depends on how accurate you want your Vader and what your collecting needs are.

If you want affordability and a good approximation, then I've already shared the pros and cons of each make of suit so people can make a balanced and informed decision. It's sad to see this being depicted as criticism.

I do understand that there are people who are offended by the mere notion that costuming organizations are not the end-all of screen accuracy. But those same organizations also support recasting and do not protect the work of propmakers - propmakers who actually may know a bit more than the vendors who have availed themselves to cosplayers. Their stance on illicit recasting has turned off people who now only privately offer much more accurate stuff than the mainstream. Their level of knowledge come from the available vendors who slant their information to suit their sales. People train their eye on vendor products rather than accurate representations of the screen-used (be it photos, screen captures, actual first generation screencast props, etc.)

You'd have to go custom and have someone be able to work with you until you feel the look you want is established. Tour suit photos can be of some help, but they are not necessarily completely accurate sometimes. You'd have to study screen captures and photos and do a lot of experimentation.

That, however, is going to be expensive.

Short of that, the products suggested here are good and reasonably affordable approximations but will not be entirely screen accurate - so do bear that in mind when encountering enthusiastic and perhaps even well-deserved praise. I happen to know of people who swear by Custom Props and Fenix Props, and then I also happen to know of people who strive for accuracy and have sold their CP and FP suits to work on something custom.

so the question is, is there anyone out there that we can contact now besides fp cp and sith planet to get a hight quality vader suit? (word of mouth makers would be welcome)

I only speak the truth, David.

I wish I'd kept it, but it went to a good home (a member here on the RPF, actually).

So... what we've learned from this thread are a few things...

Unless you're willing to spend thousands from a custom build from some yet un-named source, the Fenix Props etc... ones are one of your best bets at this time.

The point with the Leather parts is that all those guys have to
work to a price point. They are trying to make profit after all.

A true, dyed-in-the-wool accuracy nut, will go to whatever
lengths (both time and financial) to obtain the best pieces.

For a vader leather suit I would recommend getting all
the photographic reference you can of the undersuit then
speaking with a tailor who is experienced at working with
leather. You will pay more - but you will come away
with an amazingly durable, accurate suit.

Thanks again C. :)
Even though that was years ago, I have to say they were a lot of fun and I did try my best to make them as accurate as I possibly could. To this day I don't know how or where they could have been improved on accuracy wise but regarding the quality of the goods and construction....well that I stand by to this day. Fun times....

Now on that note....I am not making, selling or manufacturing these goods in any way, shape or form so folks please stop emailing about it. :) Some are emailing us over and over the same day.
Like I said....this was all a long time ago.

Its Ok, you wouldnt get your PM answered anyway.

The only way to get an accurate suit is to make it yourself. Even hiring someone to do it for you doesnt work unless you do patterns yourself or stand over their shoulder every step of the way. I'm not knocking anyone's work as there are alot of great quality items out there but it is the truth if you're going for super accuracy.

mines from LA in argentina, LA does really nice work, mines the 1 piece with the netting across chest and back. used it for 2 years now, holding up perfectly, breathes great.

and yes, CP still works with LA, and in fact LA told me personally once in a email reply wat happened betweenst them that caused the splitup. but thats not the point, LA still, today makes the suits, and sells them to CP who turns round and sells them for a lil higher price. so for price, at least, LA is best way to go, cuz a CP suit is a LA suit resold by CP for more. now at least last year upon last contact with LA, thats the way it was workin out, thuings might have changed since then. just thot i would pass on wat i know, and have heard.

While Dave's suits were/are nice, my preference were the Rein One suits produced awhile back. I still have mine...

But as Mike (Vadermonkey) stated above, getting one custom made yourself is the way to go now.

Master Cha, weirdly enough, not many. Would you wish me to e-mail you one?

Thanks ... I've seen the pics on Gemakwalker's blog. Looks great to me ... but also kind of very hot being that's made of synthetic leather ... or am I mistaken?

I've got one of LA's one piece leather suits as well, and I think it looks DAMN good (and so do most people who see my Vader) :love

I also have a Rein One 3-piece suit (which is hanging in the closet):unsure

I have a Fett pride ROTS suit from his statues that I might be willing to let go of.

Pm me if interested

OK, someone introduced the initials LA into this - is that the same person as FP? Fenix Props? The reference is a bit unclear to me. Did we go from calling Fenix Props FP to LA for his initials or something?

Sorry for the confusion on my part.
