Simulating "gun grip" texture

Krylon Stone works on guns, me n my dad used it on a few, the more closer the more course, the farther the smoother. It gives a sandpaper feel, u can go over with all black or whatever

Back when Space:Above and Beyond was recently cancelled (and airsofts were not readily available), I made a basswood Glock and spray painted the texturey bits with some sort of fleck stone paint paint (dunno if it was Krylon), and it worked pretty durn good. I'm sure if you put it against a real replica eek what?!) it wouldn't look the same, but it did the job pretty nicely.

anyone got any ideas on a good way to simulate the other style of gun grip, the more sandpapery grips on something like a p228?

A good truck bed spray coating could probably replicate this texture pretty well.

You can definitely get the pattern via paint using the screen technique. That way has been used to paint numerous items over the years but practice on a test bunny first...

I suggest you shave the bunny before painting it :sleep

Thanks for all the great suggestions! I found a piece of vinyl mesh Friday and have wrapped it around the handle and glued in place. I also picked up a can of PlastiDip and have started covering it with than. So far it is working pretty well. I post pics when done.

I've had success using Plasti-kote Velvet textured paint. It gives a really nice effect and I just sprayed it black afterwards.
