Does someone make a galvanized steel-looking paint? Or is there a techinque for making it yourself?

Are you looking to duplicate electrogalvinized finish or regular hot dip galvanize finish? The electrogalvanized finish is a flaky looking finsh (smooth, but looks a little like a metal version of flake or pressed plywood) and hot dip is just a grey/silver looking finish. I don't know any way to simulate electrogalvanizing, but when I welded galvanized railing, we used a spray on paint called cold galv or spray galv (depends on the store where you buy it). You can usually get it at a welding supply store and some hardware stores - I think Home Depot carries it. It has a medium grey flat appearance and we usually top coated it with a bright silver or shiny aluminum spray paint to match the hot dip look.

As Acerocket mentioned, it is used in the welding industry, so any supplier should stock it.

Comes in various 'shades' too... well here in the UK, not sure about other countries.

Standard dull finish (cold galv spray), Bright finish (bright cold galv), or a very shiny version (galvashine).
