Sidkit and me, racprops

Agreed. These threads can be very telling and it gives you a fairly clear idea on where people stand...
Hm, there used to be an archived section. I wonder where it went.

I disagree with making the mods choose whose words are worthy of archiving and whose aren't. For some, even the negative posts are helpful - they help remind us that there are others who think differently, who disagree, and who support recasting.

I for one like threads like this. Hopefully I can work with Art to get the wiki up and running so an article section can be built (or similar) and a proper document can be created.

As for the new blaster offering from Rich. Very nice! Unfortunately beyond my reach at the moment. I got enough grief with my last purchase. Sad thing is, I just got a $14k bonus and it's already spoken for by the wife... Damn...

Phil, Wasn't it yours and Craig Kovach's "expensive" gun parts that were used to make these to begin with? I am curious to what Rich paid you for the use and research you did for him. Like you said, you should be at least making some residuals for it, especially since your name is still on it. ;)

Andy,

To further respond to your question: It was indeed my Steyr receiver and Charter Arms Bulldog that were employed as the basis for the first C&S blasters. Richard molded both of those. The ones shown in my Blade Runner blaster article are the actual guns. Those were later taken by Craig Kovach and built into the second firing SL-DAPAS that he constructed and gave to me in exchange for an SD pulse rifle I built for him.

Richard and I had some kind of verbal agreement whereby I was to receive a few guns for free (which he provided) for my sponsorship of the project. Additionally, for a good amount of time, I handled every C&S blaster sale and received a free blaster for every ten units sold (if I remember correctly).

One day, Richard and I had a disagreement over a refund I gave a customer for the return shipping of a blaster he sent back to us. It was at this point that I decided to walk away from the project and hand it over completely to Richard. We were somewhat estranged for a while over this, but we reestablished our friendship long ago, so it's all forgotten.

Just a little more early C&S history for those who are interested...

Hm, there used to be an archived section. I wonder where it went.

The archive section of the site was created at a time when old treads were being pruned from the site and if a thread was considered to worthy NOT to be pruned, it was moved to the archive section to save it from being deleted. Because we no longer actively prune the prop related forums of this site there was no longer a need to maintain a separate archive forum so we reintegrated those threads back into the appropriate forums. However, during the years that the site was being pruned a lot of history was lost. :(

I'd love to help with this in some capacity. Not campaigning, at all. :) ...it WAS the very first 'blaster' to have infatuated my imagination. ;)

I agree i don't think it's right to go pruning peoples posts that are on topic.

Well several of the posts here kind of needed to be pruned I think lol. For those late to the game we had a 'visitor' earlier and it got a little sidetracked however Art was on the ball and took care of it. The posts that were pruned were basically taking this post off topic.

Are there pics on your site or anywhere else that I can see it.
Here are some old ones:

This clears up a lot of what I had heard Phil, Thank you very much. I still do love hearing the history of these replicas. I still keep adding to my notes and the Timeline and Glossary when ever I can. I would love to talk to all you guys some more, now that I have a better idea what questions to ask. I have been slowly getting in touch with the Japanese creators too, including Ryosuke Takagi who may have been the first person to attach a Charter Arms bulldog to Steyr Parts for a replica in the early 90's. Much of my history is not being posted anytime soon, but it has been a great start for an identification guide. Mostly it gives personality to all the replicas I see now, as well as history. I hope you would be willing to talk about this stuff some more sometime.

The last thing I want to do is stir up this hornets nest any more, but it is ontopic. Isn't the OffWorld blaster also a recast? I thought they were pretty notorious, I know they ripped off Matsuo's BSG blaster and his Equilibrim Cleric Guns.

From what I can tell with the Offworld, starting with the original resin kit versions sold on Monsters in Motion, the Steyr parts were recast from the Hartford guns, including the intentional misspelling of "Stayr Mennlichar". The Bulldog Pistol was based on a real 38 bulldog. The Steyr bolt lever however had the exact same import and serial markings as Rich Coyle's V3 gun. The later production made gun was using much of the same parts to create new tooling and injection molds. Technically the later Offworld is not a recast, because it is not cast directly from the gun, but did use a recast as the basis. So I guess in essence it is.

Also, Awesome pics Phil. Craig really is a top notch craftsmen.
