Just finished this little beauty.
This is the all metal pre Worldcon version of the Sidkit blaster from around 2007.
Despite it not having many of the details that came to light when the real thing was unveiled at Worldcon, it is still a beautiful kit and looks like a PKD.
I'm happy that everything works as intended- bolt opens/closes smoothly, LEDs light, barrel spins and locks in place, barrel release works, trigger works the hammer correctly. I know these can be problem areas.
I've tried to add a few features to bring it closer to the original- LED holders, ON/OFF switch (fake on this), different screws, cut out on the RHS barrel cover, small machine screws on the LHS ammo clip, the extra red LED on the bottom of the ammo. clip. There are still areas that are still incorrect- trigger guard and bulldog barrel for example.
Instructions don't come with the kit, you have to search online, but the only ones I could find were from the Worldcon version (this one differs quite significantly). Despite that, this was surprisingly easy to put together- would love to do another, but with Sidkits being rare now, they go for big bucks.
Only thing I would say if you ever make one of these, get construction right first time. The soft metal does not like being taken apart too many times- stripping threads can be a problem.
One final thing about this- it is seriously heavy. Not something you can hold for too long!
