WOW to the first Xenos. Never did like the "baby" or "hybrid" design in the 4th film, though I do like all 4 films. Did HR Giger actually have any input to that?
Also, apart from JC removing the dome off the head, is there any major difference between the creature we see in the first film Vs the "warrior" we see in the 2nd?

Out of the three, I'd have to pick the blue and black.

HR Giger only designed the alien for the first film. He was contacted for the third and did some concept art for the Bambi burster, however they did not use his adult alien design for the film because they were under constraints and his ideas were a bit too out there and/or ambitious. He had no input on aliens, alien resurrection, or the avp films. They did get his input for Prometheus, though i dont think he was involved with creature design at all.

Shame, are there picture of his designs they didnt use somewhere?

Yes, both concept art and a full sized statue he made after the fact.

Loads!! :) Everything is actually different, every detail, overall size & shape! It was completely remodelled for Aliens although it does resemble the original unlike the Alien 3 creature.

The A3 alien came from a four legged host (dog or ox depending which version of the film you are watching), so it had to be different. A1 and A2 aliens are all from human hosts. They should look the same.

From a story POV I agree & they're supposed to be a fully grown up version of the first one :) but the sculpt for the Aliens creature is quite different! Its smaller, the jaw gums & teeth are all different, all the details on the sides are blended & made to look more organic & they done away with any reference to the Human skull. Still a good looking Alien though :)

Oh man, I can see why those lips probably weirded them out haha

Sucks for Giger, to create so much for the production that they wind up not using

Those lips were actually a request of fincher if i recall correctly! interestingly enough, the final design still has the fullest lips of any of the alien designs, though obviously not to the extent giger envisioned.

That the difference I was missing. If you take the dome off the first film alien, you see a human skull. On these 2nd gen designs, there is a single large smooth part instead of the face.

So whats the verdict on this? I know Coolprops has had some QC issues with their other heads but If this thing ends up looking close to this it will be one heck of a piece. I am going to take a leap of faith and preorder it. They did confirm it will have chromed teeth.

Am I reading the description right?

The skull through the dome is actually painted on, right? I mean, I know the dome is not actually removable...so I'm guessing the skull is painted on, no?

It says, "Movie-accurate transparent dome that reveals the skull beneath (not removable)
Black dome paintwork with characteristic white pattern"

Characteristic white pattern? Movie-accurate transparent dome? I'm not certain If I'm merely trying to read between the lines here, but the original sculpt of this, iirc, is a solid dome with no skull features.

Please someone tell me if I'm wrong...

Yes, some of the phrasing in their description is a bit odd.

The original did in fact have a skull underneath the clear dome, though it never really did look so crystal-clear in the film.

Its a transparent dome like the dog alien they did. Hopefully it will be a bit more transparent than that one though.

Yes the original had a transparent dome also. Here are a few pics of some originals..

That is so weird, I didn't know there was a skull under there. . .

Have you seen the predalien from Sideshow ?

What I meant about the original sculpt being solid dome is that I saw coolprops original sculpt:

Doesn't this look like one piece? I thought maybe the tried some 3D paint application to make it look like there's artificial depth here.

What do you think?
