Sideshow/Legacy Life-size 'The Child' figure

I cancelled my HasLab Razor Crest and ordered one of these the other day. I watched Adam Savage's mod video on Tested and was totally sold. I gotta have one of these little guys and make him posable!

It’s really amazing how much more expression you can get from that head sculpt when you’re able to move it around.

I love BBTS and I know it's not their fault but dang peeps, where is my Grogu???????????

(Qui-Gon sounded dumb at first and now I am used to it so here is hoping. Maybe it's his last name.)

Joey Grogu

Timmy Grogu

Yak Grogu

Yogu,..that's it. Yogu Grogu

My Grogu went under the Green-goo!

It’s a bit too cold for my paint stuff, so instead of twiddling my thumbs I figured I’d work on an eyelid mod. Soul Inertia very much beat me to the punch, and I have no plans to offer any of mine. Just making one offs for my little buddy to wield the force.

I come from a makeup and effects background or course, so I’m doing it a little different from Soul Inertia. What I did here is called a “snap mold.” I used Body Double silk and backed it with some fast set plaster bandages. I’m going to make a 1630 positive and use it to sculpt the eyes as if they were true makeup prosthetics. I’ll try to snap photos along the way for any curious parties.

My L'il Grogu came today. I'm very happy with how it looks in person. I don't really mind the rosy cheeks. The pose is still definitely kind of weird in person so I am probably going to go ahead and mod it. I haven't decided what route I want to take yet, but I like the way Teecrooz's turned out so I'm leaning that way at the moment.

Well, after the last Mandalorian episode, I guess I know why mine has been so delayed!

First eyelid test went very well! This is the raw silicone, right from the mold. Not a drop of paint yet.

To pick up from where I left off, after making the snap mold I ran a 1630 positive. Traditionally you’d take that and clay it up, remould, and produce a corrected positive. I didn’t feel like the extra cost and work was necessary so I just corrected it with Apoxie sculpt. Will work just fine for this. I then sculpted the eyes as you would a prosthetic, and then laid up a quick cutting edge and molded it with a 1630 dump mold. It was rushed and sloppy but you know, it cuts the edges very cleanly, so I’m happy enough.

I’m going to run a few sets of these so I have replacements and paint them all at once down the road.

Without further ado, here are the pics. Again, no paint on the lids yet. I also haven’t edited this photos at all, the edges were not blended off in any way.
