Showoff: Emergency Vampire kits!

I just finished these up today.

I bought these "empty books" at the fabric store and REALLY needed to find something to do with them. So I went ahead and made some Steam-Punk styled "Emergency Vampire Defense Kits". My wife and I spent a ton of money and time sourcing out all the stuff to go in them and then I spent some time in the shop making the rest.

I particularly like the fact one of them is in "War & Peace", but a generic art book and "The Old man and The Sea" is a pretty good title too.

Each of the bigger kits has:

Three oak stakes (I made those)
Six silver (aluminum dummies I made) bullets
One mahogany crucifix (I made it)
One small hand mirror
One Holy Water bottle (I sandblasted the cross onto the surface of a vintage bottle)
One crystal glass drinking vessel
One mixing spoon
Two packets of Vampire Venom Remedy (actually "Emergen-C"... it fizzes and you can drink it). I made custom graphics for the packets.
One bottle of dried garlic chips (for a poultice to put on bites)
One bottle of Poppy seeds (legend has it that you spread these around and the vampire has no choice but to count them all)
One small wooden crucifix that is worn on the neck.

The smaller "economy" kit contains:

Two oak stakes
Five silver bullets
One mahogany crucifix
One small hand mirror
One Holy Water bottle
One mixing spoon
Two packets of Vampire Venom Remedy
One bottle of dried garlic chips
One bottle of Poppy seeds

I don't know if I'm going to actually make an instruction book or not. Most of this stuff is pretty self-explanatory.

I LOVE it! :lol:thumbsup

I've always wanted to do something like that myself, maybe in an old leather doctor's bag or satchel like Kolchak's kit. :)

hmmm, never heard of that poppy seed one before.
Maybe that explains.....

I think so. I wouldn't put it past the Muppet guys to actually research vampire legends before creating the Count Von Count character.

What a fun idea!

Very well done, and I love the idea of having a prop like that sitting on the shelf and no one knows it's there but you ;)

And who'll have the last laugh when the Vampires strike?

Gordon. :thumbsup

Thanks for posting these!:thumbsup
I also have the same exact small mirror you have used in the kits!:D

Gonna pick a nit here. Fair warning!

Those are crosses in your kits. Crucifixes have the ****** figure on the cross.

fun! I always wanted to do one of these in a shadowbox with a label, "in case of vampires, break glass"!

Great work :)

Excellent work! I love threads like this that really show off creativity... especially since I have none. :unsure

:lol

Nice idea. Certainly more creative than a Zombie emergency kit.

One question though, why silver? That's for werewolves, not vampires.

I have seen some pretty creative zombie kits. Can not beat Max Brooks' Zombie Survival Guide and WWZ.

There are myths were vampires are allergic to silver. Depends on the geography/region. Some wives' tales/myths are the vampire/werewolves/monsters are related, this is not just Underworld 2. Certain role play games gives higher damage with weapons made of silver. Plus my Buffy the Vampire Slayer Supernatural Defense Kit has holy water with silver flakes.:lol

Some of the old real kits, hundred years, go for big bucks!

I love the idea. I am also curious where you found the "empty books". I have some "items" in my Buffy Vampyr book replica.

Thanks!

Interesting. I hadn't heard of silver being useful until Blade, and I thought it was BS.
