Ah, the old shoulder puller! I've got one of those, somewhere. I've used it a couple times, and Reel Fakes used it on one of his sabers. Even though I have the real thing, I spent some time planning on making a hardware version. Kinda silly, but I'd like to see what I can do. Haven't done it yet, but my idea was...
In the electrical section, Menards has these metal connectors for joining a couple pieces of metal conduit, and it comes in a couple different sizes. I've seen the same (but totally different thing) at Home Depot. I'm sure any store that sells a lot of electricity supplies would carry something similar, but I preferred the one from Menards. It's aluminum or zinc or pot metal, something not super hard and easy to cut. I cut it in 2 lengthwise with a hack saw.... and haven't touched it in years. My idea was to drill/Dremel out an appropriate sized hole for the shoulder (see the diagrams in the post linked above), take an oversized washer and epoxy putty it to the hole area. Using more epoxy putty or Apoxy Sculpt, shape the inner part to make it the shape of the shoulder you want to form. Probably need some more Dremeling and filing, more epoxy putty.... I turned Reel Fakes onto plumber's epoxy putty, and he found that the Loctite brand is probably the best one out there, and I gotta say, I agree. Hardens way faster than Apoxy Sculpt, but it's great.
