Section 31 Phaser from Discovery?

Did ANYONE notice that the Section 31 Phaser on Discovery was completely different than the standard-issue Phaser? Anyone got pics?

I can’t get a descent screengrab because the fight scene is so insanely fast, but it LOOKS like—

—a Trek 3 Phaser to me. Thoughts?

I think they have worn out the goodwill of the long-term “Star Trek” fans—and not without cause.

I'm not sure who designed it, but I know who made the hero props. There were a handful made for the show in Toronto. They were all cnc milled from aluminum and black anodized. Each one has two or three small stepper motors. They were gorgeous up close and felt like real weapons in hand. They reminded me a bit of the assault phasers from Star Trek 6. The emitter end extended and retracted smoothly while rotating. I haven't watched much Discovery, but they were damn sexy in person.

I watched Season 1 and cancelled my All Abscess subscription as soon as I saw the last episode. I have yet to watch the wreck that was Season 2 and have no plans to do so in the near future. I mean the reason they come up with as to why no one in the prime universe ever heard of the spore drive or the Discovery is that they went into the far future and everyone who ever knew about them never once told someone. The writing on that show is just atrocious.

Those both look great. You can barely tell they were 3D printed. I think I would get something like this rather than buy what Anovos is trying to sell even though not too many of them are getting into the market place and some of the later ones have QC problems.
