Seburo GONG

Morning all.

This is built from one of Le Merchand's kits. I picked it up a while back, and it sat in a box for far too long. Over the summer I did a lot of work on it, including replacing the trigger, adding an ejection port, and I also added a steel smooth bore barrel.

I have been building up a nice prop arsenal for a film project later this year involving a gunsmith who builds custom props for hitmen, mercs, etc. It's a cyberpunk film, so I'm planning on having as many seburo style weapons as I can in this one, including some live fire guns.

This isn't quite done yet, I have some more work to do on the stock, and the grip. More pictures to follow once I do.

Hope you like.

Veeeeeeeery nice :love I've had my eye on that kit for awhile but I wouldn't be able to do it justice. Fantastic job :thumbsup

Thanks guys!

It is painted with krylon ultra flat black presently. The kit was cast in white. I'm not done with the finish though. I'm going to do something with the stock and grip, and add a bit of weathering as well.

Ah, I meant are you going to paint it like the original.

Gotcha. I don't think I'll try and simulate wood. I'm considering tan, or olive drab for the forearm and grip though. Not sure what I'm going to do yet.

I love the look of the wood grain though. Those posieden guys did a great job on those.

I love the Seburo designs.

Me too. I constantly surf over to the poseiden website to oggle and drool over their designs and builds. :love

I also like a lot of the scratch builds folks have done for seburo guns. I just ordered the Exploder kit too, from Marc, and I'm considering installing a blank firing gun inside it. I know it would require some mods to do it. but I'm very tempted to try it.

I'm a big Shirow fan too. Love his comics.

Wether or not it would require mods is debateable, since it was built to fit around a gas PPK airsoft, but a blank firing gun would likely blow it to pieces, the recoil would be too strong and it's just plastic.

You can still order the Seburo M-5 from Poseidon.

Sure, I know if I just put a resin shell around a blank pistol, as is, it would not work. I'm not going to let the gun blow the resin shell to pieces. It would have to be reinforced.

But I'm not going to use a PPK either, I'm going to use a zoraki 914, and I'm not mounting the top shell to the slide, as it would be on the PPK. The slide would move freely inside the shell.

It doesn't have any recoil, I'm more concerned with the gas pressures and heat, but the 914 is a front firing blank gun, so I wont have the top muzzle flash as I would with the kimar or bruni PPK. I'm also concerned with fitting. I doubt the bruni would fit anyhow. And the kimar PPK's tend to blow themselves to pieces. They are crap. But I think the zoraki's frame is too big, we'll see when I get the exploder kit.

If I move forward with the project, I will document the build. Worse comes to worse, I'll pick up a zoraki 925 (which is just a 914 in a composite shell anyway) and build the exploder as a static arsenal gun.

And, to my knowledge poseiden will not ship outside of japan. Has that changed? I've had to get all my posieden stuff from someone other than them, usually on ebay.

You've cleary given it more thought than I have. :lol

You can use a middle-man service to order from them. Celga is the one I use because they order from Japanese web-shops. I've gotten stuff through them before as long as you specify that it's not a model gun, and comes as an unassembled kit.

Also, once upon a time Poseidon used to have an international office here in the states.

Great build so far. I am working on mine still. All moving parts, metal and wood, and I'm putting a gas blowback airsoft shotgun with ejecting shells in it. I'll be watching this one closely.

I didn't know about them, thanks for the info. I'll check 'em out!

Damn. That sounds fantastic!

That sounds awesome! Any pics you can share?

Would love to see how you do this before I start mine.

Color me skeptical. Sounds more ambitious than practical, and there's no way you'd fit the guts from a cartridge-ejecting airsoft shotgun like the Maruzen M1100 in the shell of one of these.
