I don't even know what "boning' refers to on a corset. I can take a stab at that it's suppose to be the hard vertical structures that are bowing in and out on her corset? Because that looks all sorts of messed up. Corsets aren't suppose to look broken. :lol

Even so, since her costume is Star Wars inspired, I think the Empire would have gone with plastic "boning", especially in comparison to most of their uniforms in the films.

Yeah, I know nothing of corsets (because I'm a guy), but let's face it... I could have made a joke about "plastic boning," especially since she's separated from her husband.

hehe yep, those vertical channels hold the boning. (its called boning because originally corsets supports were made with whale bone) Plastic looks great for a brief moment whilst its being modelled for a shop..Once worn, the plastic softens and doesn't do what its supposed to do..if you sit down it buckles then when you stand up again, it stays buckled.
hence why true corsets use sprung steel, which is flexible but doesnt buckle at all!
