Looking amazing man! Very impressed! Can't wait to see more this weekend! :)
Appreciate it buddy.  Your sculpt is what got me motivated to get going on this again.

Glad to see you back on this Brian! I am looking forward to following your progress on this. I need something more to help motivate me. Lots of good stuff going on so I hope some of it will rub off in the right direction.

Thanks Steve, It feels good to be working on this again.

The new armature has really helped, and I'm a little more confident that I can pull this off.  I did get some work done this past weekend, and will post up some pics once I get em on my laptop.  The biggest draw back for me is some of the meds I take tend to give me the shakes, so getting straight clean lines can be a bit of a challenge.  If I plan on doing any sort of painting or sculpting I'll skip em for a day, but then I spend a few days "paying for it", so I don't do that very often lol.  I guess it's one of those things that comes with getting old...

Pictures suck but you get the idea.  Still working on the dome and fins.  Those are the things that killed it for me in the past, and I still seem to be struggling with it.  Meh, at least it's progress...

Nice progress man! I'm glad to see other people work like I do. it will take me a week sometimes of walking around it to figure out how to fix my mask sculpture. but once you get over that hill and it starts working right it will come together fast. i just keep telling myself its clay and it can be fixed so sometimes i dig into it and murder it but it always turns out better the more you mess with it. reference pics and walk around it a lot. i moved my mask sculpture into the hallway of my house so i walk by it and see different angles. then when i think i've figured it out i move it back into my office lol. lookin good man! don't settle with anything you're not happy with!

Much appreciated.  I have done a little here and a little there, but do spend quite a bit of time just looking at it.  It's funny, but I can look at the same area for days, then all of the sudden something jumps out and says "fix me".  It's going much better with the new armature, but very slowly at the moment.  The biggest thing I learned from the first 2 attempts is to go easy when removing clay, and stop for breaks now and then.  I've got a little more done and plan on posting some pics in a day or 2.

Coming along fantastic dude! The only advice I could give is like Untamed said, just look at it from every angle like crazy and focus on a particular spot. I will look at a spot at the same angle of a photo and sometimes it helps to close one eye to check symmetry. Your doing a fantastic job man!

Thanks all for the kind words...you're all TOO kind.  Time for a small update.  I think I finally have the dome and fins the way I like em', so roughed out some other areas and started on the eyes and laser shroud.  Obviously still very rough, but so far I'm liking it.  As you have all probably figured out, I work at a snails pace when I get time, which seems to be at a premium these days.  I'm gonna have to make a few more custom tools to get in the small corners, but that's part of the fun for me (I have a crap load of tools that end up in the bottom of my box as it is because I dig makin' em as much as I do sculpting with them).  Any suggestions or things you see that need changed are greatly appreciated.  Thanks for looking.

Brian

P.S.  Again, sorry for the crap pics :/

yeah the dome looks perfect. I can't really tell but i feel like the cheeks need a bigger indent on them. or the cheek bones need to be a little more prominent. thats what i see but then again different angles may show differently. lookin sweet man. you're doin' it right and that takes time. i love this reference pic posted by PredatrHuntr, really shows the curves. hope it helps.

Yeah, I've checked that one out too and refer to it often. I haven't touched the cheek area yet, and the eyes are just cut in. I'll add more depth to them, round them off, and blend em' in next. Thanks for the input, I appreciate it. I guess I should state too that I'm but really trying to get it screen perfect, just close. This is more of a "just to see if I can do it thing".

Thanks Steve.  I agree, much happier this time around.  The new armature has made this a breeze to sculpt.

Thank you very much Kendra.  Hopefully I'll have some to post soon.

LMFAO I wish I had one to give ya bastid!  Life and suddenly getting swamped with new projects and commissions has forced me to put this on the back burner for the time being.  I would say I'm at about 75% complete now, and think another good days work would put me at the molding stage.  By the way, how ya been old friend???
