Scream robe

Is it possible to post a better pic of the hood? I´m really interested in how it is constructed and made?
Is there a string on the neck?
Where does it go through? How is it done?

Thanks very much!

Hey it's me again - just popping back in real quick. I haven't really been online much lately, but with ALL the god awful snow outside, there really isn't much else to do. It looks like Hoth outside...I swear I saw an Imperial Walker coming down my street this morning...:eek
As soon as I can get some pics of screamfans robe, I will forward those to the robe maker and take it from there.
Remember, no one here will be selling the robes. They are being made and sold by professionals, so you won't have to worry about someone stiffing you or not answering your emails 'where's my robe?' and stuff like that.

I should be sending some photos your way tonight.

Waiting on screamfan but it looks like he's gone awol!
He's either been away from the RPF or is now unwilling to participate in sharing info to get the robes made.
I have tried sending him a PM but no response yet...hope all is OK...

Sorry everyone. Been super busy with a few things going on in my life, and recently started a new job. Most of my time on the web has been through my iPhone which is a pain sometimes. Anyways, just sent Frosty a message about everything. I'll fill you guys in with a brief update.

Dina from cloakmakers contacted me. Saw a few pics. She thinks its too complex to make using photos and a pattern. She would need to have access to the real thing herself. Also told me her fabric is way off. Only sparkles on one side, too dark, almost JET black, not enough sparkle to it, and its too ruff/stiff so it wouldnt "flow" right.

So were kind of at a stand still currently.

Well damn. I'm assuming you aren't going to let her have access? ;) I sure as heck wouldn't let that thing out of my sight.

Did you get ever get the pics from your photo session? I'm still pretty eager to see how those turned out.

Also what about your talks with the prop guy? Maybe we could find out
where THEY got the fabric from. I know it's a long shot. I was able to find out what was used for Heath Ledger as the joker for his hair and makeup.

Well she hasn't offered to make the 8 hour drive down here and I don't blame her. And I'm not traveling 8 hours up and back on my dime for this. That would seriously be an absolute LAST resort. There are many more options out there (other companies, designers, fabrics etc..).

As far as the prop guy went, he basically said that while we may be able to find a similar fabric, the actual fabric used for the hero robes was specially made for the films. Specific to their requests and needs. He did not give the name of the company who makes it for them, and I didn't bother asking because he said it was a company who deals "specifically" with the industry.

Truth be told with the screen used robes, just examining mine I can tell you that there is at least three different types used for the robes. The "body" of the robe being very thick, while the arm streamers and hood are much lighter, which give it that "flow" you see in the films. Then the fabric used around the seams of the split down the middle and that attaches the hood is also different. They are all "sparkly" black, but different types of fabric. Let me rephrase.... they may all be the same type of fabric, but different thickness... if that makes sense. In a nutshell, it's quite obvious that these were indeed specially made to their specifications.

Like I said many times before, the design appears fairly simple when the only time you see it is while the killer is running around in the films. But when you see one in person, theres a LOT of hidden details to the design. Coming from me this means nothing, as I know nothing about costume making or design...but it looks damn complicated to me. Especially the hood. Very intricate stitching and and a lot of fabric in there and other things to give it that shape and "flow".

Make an agreement to ship it to her and get a signed contract that it will be returned as is or $????? Will be paid...simple.

I will absolutly NOT ship my robe to her. lol. Its just too risky too chance. She may be a professional, but I dont know her. And things do get lost in the mail. Even insured, if it got lost or anything happened to it at all, sure I would get $$ but that robe is one of a kind and could never be replaced. Theres just no way I can do that.

I would be fine with a close-enough fabric - honestly, we may NEVER find the exact fabric. I also think that the replica robes DO NOT have to be constructed 100% exactly like the original - they just have to look like what we see on screen.

I know we have already established that we just need to find a close enough fabric, not neccasarily the real deal, but I thought I'd share this you guys.

Im sure you all remember that Josh guy (aka Starjerk) from the MM boards who made those replicas a while back..... he bragged to everyone that he had found and used the exact same fabric they used for the movies and that he had a close source to the films who verified..... yeah he was full of **** lol. Here's a photo someone who bought one off of him recently shared with me thats very telling...

Thats one of Starjerks replicas. Notice its only sparkly on one side. Even the arm streamers are blank on the backside. This buyer told me Josh never mentioned to him this detail, and that all the photos he sent him were carefully taken to not expose that detail. He also said the fabric Josh used is like a stretchy nylon type fabric similar to what the store bought robes are made of, only heavier. So yeah, I dunno if anyone even cares but I just thought Id share with you since theres still people on other boards who talk about how this guy was able to track down the real fabric....which this photo proves he clearly did not.

Very revealing indeed!
Could this be the same fabric that Dina is using for her robes??
I notice that the hood was 'doubled up' so that the sparkly is inside as well - this could be a viable solution if we are only able to find the one-sided sparkle fabric.
I think comparing your robe to what was previously offered by starjerk will aid in producing an even better replica for sale - you will learn from his mistakes and improve upon the design.
As always, protecting your investment in your original robe is paramount, so I for one would be fine with a robe that looks like it does on screen, but may missing some of those hidden details we talked about.
