Scream robe

Thank you very much for the pics! It is awesome to see the details of this costume.
I have a question: Is there any velcro attached to keep the hood in place? Or at mask?

Thanks!

I just got a reply from that robe maker.
They are very interseted in doing a run of these robes for us! They already sent a fabric sample to a member over at michael-myers.net, and they would like to see more detailed pics of the actual robe. I also advised them to watch the movies to get a better idea of what it is they will be making.
The more detailed the pics the better - we need ones that are FULL BODY from all angles, as well as close ups on the trim details and hood.
They said they would certainly consider putting it as one of thier regular inventory items and would keep the cost around $250 and more for plus sizes (each one is made to order I think).
That price range is an estimate, but I feel is very reasonable.
Once we get the robe squared away for production, we can start talking about a source for screen-accurate masks.

I'll copy what I just posted over at michael-myers.net since it fits in here too.

That price makes me think this could be the right material. Way back in the day, like around the time Scream 2 was out, before Scream 3 and a few years before I bought my screen used costume, Wes Craven's website had a way you could send Wes comments or questions and if he answered them, they emailed his answer to you. I dont believe I still have the actual email, but back during the Scream 2 days I asked him a question about the costumes and he answered. I remember clearly that he stated you would never see costumes exactly like the ones used in the movies available to the general public because the fabric used was too expensive and each costume used in the films cost around $300 a piece. So if that information helps at all I dunno. But at least we have an official aprox. cost of the robes. If I ever find the actual email I will post it but Im sure its long gone

FROSTY that sounds great. This robe opens from the front correct? I would almost call this one the hero robe since it has some details the other ones dont. Screamfan I would also like to hear about the robe from Scream 2.

I think it would be a good idea also if this robe company could make one sized exactly like Screamfans. I know S M L XL would be great but I would want one as it appears in the film.

Yes the robe opens in the front. The main difference as far as visible styling tweaks they made for each film is the way the "streamers" hanging from the arms are cut and the way they bottom of the robe is cut too. These are just a few of many differences.

Also I noticed a few people way back posting about how the costumes opening in the middle attached. There were never ANY costumes used for either film that used a zipper.

Heres a few insider details I picked up over the years about the costumes in general, then after I post more pics of mine later today we can get into specifics about mine.
For each movie about 3-4 costumes were made for the killer. In Scream 2, the costumes that the movie goers in the audience (the extras) were given were NOT the same at all. A lot of people think they are the same material and design, minus the attached glvoes but thats just not the case. They were a different design and different fabric as well. As I said above, the actual killers costume fabric is expensive. Around $300 for each robe. The only theater going extras in Scream 2 who donned an actual robe were the two using the urinals when Phil Stevens walks in the restoom. Aside from cost, they made the robes different mainly because they wanted the actual killers appearence to be obvious. Having his design different from the others made it scarier.

Another interesting fact is that there were NO sizes for the killers robe. They were all made to the same dimensions. If you notice, unlike other movie maniacs and slashers such as Jason and Michael Myers, Ghostface gets no credit in the credits. Thats because for each movie, they used several stuntmen and body language actors to play the part. They may have one guy play him for one scene of him running, and then another guy in scene that requires a hard slam/fall or other stunt. Also keep in mind, the actual actors playing the killers in the film would often don the costume at some point. Especially the ending of Scream 3. Scott Foley keeps the robe on the entire time (my robe).
Anyways, its because of this that in order to ensure fewer costume fitting problems all the costumes were made the same size. A little large. Thats one of the main problems with the replica that I saw photos of on michael-myers.net. The gloves are WAYYY too small and tight. The gloves on mine, and all the screen used ones are very large and baggy. Just compare the pic I posted of my glove to the replicas gloves. Even watch the films and pay attention to the gloves. They are baggy there as well.

For reference purposed I can tell you Im 5'11 and weigh about 145 pounds. The costume fits me fine. It fits exactly the way it does the actors or stuntmen in the movie itself.

:eek I never would have guessed that at all! I guess I just assumed they were all one piece and worn like the store bought versions.

Is that ball cap worn underneath the mask also? :lol

hahahaha. That hat is the Scream 3 crew hat. Stuntman I bought it from included that with the costume, along with an signed photo and a bunch of call sheets from the days of filming the mansion scenes in Scream 3.

No. do not have the shoes. I wish I did. haha. I have never been able to find out what type of boots they were. All the stuntman I bought the costume from remembers is that they were steel toe.

And to get rid of confusion about how the costumes attach in the middle, yes some where made with velcro instead of the buttons. The ones with the buttons were used the most though because it stayed together while running, falling etc. The velcro costumes were used for quick pick up shots because the were easily and quickly put on and removed. As I said, there are easily over 100 snap buttons that run the entire length of the costume so as you can imagine, its a chore to put on and take off.

Can you tell us more about what is going on inside the hood? You mentioned velcro. Is the mask worn with elastic?

If it's alright with you, I am going to send that photo along with the information you posted to the robe maker. The more they know the better.

The mask I have is one that came with the Halloween costume. There was only some material hanging off the bottom. There was an elastic band that would keep it on my head. I assume that's not the case with the real deal LOL

Oh haha. Yeah I know the type you are refering to. No, the screen used masks are identical to the old funworld masks. they have the full head piece and two stranding hanging down that you would tie around ur head like a bandana to keep the mask tight so it doesnt shift on your face.
