Wow thank you. Screen saver you say? That's super cool. Finished it last summer I think. Hoping to do another one soon. More improved this time seeing I know what I'm doing now. This one being my first was just a test really. Thanks again.  :)

What are the dreads. Make your own? I'm trying to decide what to do with mine. Buy them or make them.

I'll chime in here. The trick is to paint the spots then airbrush over it with the base colour, then paint spots over it again. This gives it a translucent look like real skin.

Sounds simple yet really effective. Only when I give it a try will I probably truly begin to understand. Cheers for the tip.

I bought the dreads from Casey Mccabe. Shoot him a pm. As for painting I did a few different shades of a skin tone, over the whole thing there were yellows, greens and browns. I did the spots in stages. Going over them with different reds and browns. Unfortunately my airbrush packed up just before doing the black spots so had to do them with a brush. Its the only part of it that I'm not happy with. Going to do the next one fully airbrushed. That's as long as my airbrush behaves itself lol  ;). Because it was my first bust paint up I was pretty much flying by the seat of my pants. I was just looking at tones of ref pics and did what I thought was close.

I just got a Paasche Talon with all 3 nozzles, I've yet to try it. i'm going to test it on my P2 Bio. £150 from the US

The thing about airbrushing it's a means to an end. That's why other artists like painters don't like them because they believe there's no skill in it. But for us it's the perfect tool. You can get feathering with no effort. There are still techniques like the one I mentioned and it takes experience but they are great for us.

I only had just started airbrushing a few months before painting the bust so only had a really cheap one. Even though it was a bit temperamental it has served me well. I did manage to get it working again after. I really don't see much point in buying a really expensive airbrush because most do the same thing, I suppose its just the build quality you are paying for. Its more about how you use it I think. I really enjoy airbrushing now, where as before I just did dry brushing to blend. Iv still got a lot to learn for sure.

It sounds like one of those brandless ones you get free with a compressor I got two with mine. They're ok but you can't do fine lines such as veining. Most pro's use the Iwata eclipse, they're about £190, there's no point paying more than that for what we do. I got the Talon because of the bang for the buck, and because it's not cheap and nasty.

precisley why I went for the Talon. I got 3 nozzles and heads, pipe plus accessories. But they do the Talon in 3 different packages. You can buy just the Talon with one nozzle for about £80

Still a bit pricey.

This is one very close to the one I have http://www.amazon.co.uk/Professional-Airbrush-Gun-Type-double-action-function/dp/B003EJYY38/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1418772961&sr=8-1&keywords=dual+action+airbrush

More my budget.

Cheap as chips but does the job. Painted most of my P1 bust and repainted my whole 1/4 scale Neca P1 with it, including spots.  ;) http://www.thehunterslair.com/topic/31503-14-scale-neca-p1-repaint/

Trust me its great for fine detail.  (y)
Quality Buddy that's enough detail for me. The head and mouth look mental.
