Hi all im new here and this is my first post. let me begin by saying what a cool forum this is I love it!:love

Now down to my story and plan of action and would be most greatfull if anyone can help.

Since I was a kid i have always loved the gremlins and have always been a very creative model maker artist and can turn my hand to most things. now since i was a boy i have always wanted to plan and make some realistic life sized replicas now recently after my kids falling in love with the films has got me thinking again about it and i so what to do it. ive seem many replicas and other models on here that peole have made or had made for them.

ive worked out a basic plan of action for making the Mogwi and im going to sculpt them out of clay and add the faux fer etc but im having a couple of problems with a couple of things if anyone can point me in the right direction. im not a ritch person and dont have a great deal of money so what ever works out the cheapest would be best for me.

I just cant find any fake model eyes that would be suitable for the mogwi.:cry:cry the largest of the realistic doll eys i have found the coloured bits of the eyes are just far too small and I want them to have the bigger eye look so can anyone help me with finding the right eyes for my project??? :confused

I cant seem to find the right shade of brown faux fur for the prown parts or the right kind of eyelashes for him any help there would be much apretiated. ( P.S sorry im not a very good speller).:confused

ive worked out that a life sized gizmo would be around 8 to 9 inches going by a few things ive found and read please corect me if im wrong?

this is my main aim for now and so want to start these projects and have a few around the house.

As for the gremlins ive orderd the two life sized model re cast replica kits from ebay and im hoping that i can study them and get an idea on how i could re create all the others, life sized bat gremlin, spider, girl, veggatable, brain, lenny, george, and definaltly daffy my fav as hes just plain crazy lol.

Anyways thats enough from me so hello all I hope some one some were out there in the replica world can help.

kind regards & best wishes
Steve ;-)

Re: Scale gremlin/mogwi model help

My mogwai I am sculpting is 12 inches tall. Its difficult because everyone has a different idea of what the size should be. Since there were different size puppets made for different shots its sometimes hard to tell. As for the eyes why dont you try painting a correct size ball instead of trying to find an eye that works. There are many eye painting videos on youtube that could help you out.

Re: Scale gremlin/mogwi model help

Well after a few days of serching I finaly found some realistic eyes that I think will be big enough for the job at hand. Ive also managed to get some eyelash strips and have orderd the fur. YAY just need to wait for it all to arrive as I want to start with the head and imbed the eyes etc.

If anyone can help with a good painting guide it would be great as im not very good with blending and shading the paints. I normaly use acrilic paints for my models so any sugestions or helpfull tips and links would be great.

I love the work you guys do on here and this seems to be the best place for help and advice that i could find.:love

Just thought id add a pic of a Gizmo ear and a mock up Finger I have been working on to day to see how it turns out what do you all think of the start of my project? do it look ok? its only a little bit but wanted to see what you thought so far??

Oh yes yes yes. I want to make all the gremlins too!

Ive orderd the two life sized replicas of mohawk gremlin and normal gremlin just waiting for them to turn up ive been told at least 3 or 4 weeks grrrr.

What i was wondering if there is some way i could make some sort of basic mold from them so I could cast a basic gremlin then cut off and add all the difrent bits to make them into all the others as they all have difrent spines patterns and featchers etc. its just an idea for now thats why im making the mogwai first to give me somthing to do till they turn up.

If i cant find a way to make a basic mold I will just have to look and and study them when they get here and try and sculped all the others from scratch. I think I will just have to wait till they arrive and take it from there.:rolleyes

but yes im very happy with my mogwai there all sitting together on the fish tank looking at me. if only they would multiply if they fell in.:love:lol:lol

Steve:)
