Cheers gang.

It looks like I might be able to det a bit more done in the next two days. I have a few hours up my sleeve in the workshop so I'm excited to get back into it. Photos soon.

I just found this thread and have read through the whole thing. I went from dubious at the start to amazed by where you are at now. A fairly standard simple set of plate armor from the middle ages is hard enough to build. What you're doing is is so much more complex in terms of forms and detail. It's pretty damn impressive. After this you could probably make just about any suit of armor you'd like with relative ease.

On a completely unrelated note what a surprise to see the Horsehead nebula. My SO is into astrophotography and that's one of her favorite celestial objects. We live in a fairly light polluted area (in a white are on Dark Sky Finder). She's managed to get some decent shots though. This is her photo of the Horsehead Nebula.

It's been a bit hectic of late sorry mate. Family function interstate this last couple of weeks and I'm also in the middle of building a large deck off the front of my house for my wife.

Also had a heap of knives to finish for friends and loved ones.

I've been running some adventure groups hiking and canyoning which is taking a lot out of me.

Plus the observatory is keeping me up nights with astrophotography when the moon and clouds permit, and our weekly men's sci-fi movie night in the den below.

I'm back to work next week which means I should get in some after hours progress on the suit in the workshop.

Personally I'm chomping at the bit to get back into it!

When the hell do you sleep?????

When the hell do you sleep?????

I'll sleep very well this week. Firefighting HR burns in Canberra's mountains day before yesterday, clearing fire trails yesterday, two days of late-shift today and tomorrow, movie night with the blokes tomorrow night and caving all day Saturday. Sunday zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Fiddly work.

Modifying the boots so they fit over my old army boots. Welded in a false heel to raise me off the ground another inch and a half then modified the top of the boot to be removable for ease of getting in and out.

Still got to trim the bolts protruding inside flush with the nut I've welded in there. Soon I can grind back all the welds, bog them up a bit smooth all the edges and paint them. Rubber soles will be glued on underneath to protect the hospital floors.

Beautiful boots S.B. Now do they come in a 8 & 9? 9 for the left, 8 for the right. Yeah that's right, 2 different sizes, my twin has the same problem, same feet as well lol...GM

It's really lookin' great. Will be great to see some color on it but it will almost be a shame covering up all that raw steel.

Now that's sorted out and I can actually wear them, it's time to tweak the comfort before I clean them up and put the rubber soles under them.

I have to cut a couple of comfort lines where it pinches or rubs slightly.
