Samurai - Super Friends (Representing old school at New York Comic Con)

I'd actually made this costume many years ago for a video sketch on YouTube, but decided to wear it to my first NY Comic-Con, to represent both old-school animation and one of the few Asian superheroes around when I was growing up.

Had to do a few touch ups, make some shoe/boot covers, and then headed to the con. Found a nice lego Hall of Justice to pose in front of :)

It was great seeing exactly where the cultural generation divide was in people recognizing my character.

My best moment of the convention was walking up to artist Geof Darrow (Hardboiled, Big Guy and Rusty) while in my Samurai costume and having him exclaim, "Hey, I used to draw you!"

Turns out, he was an animator on Super Friends!!!

What, no comments?! Would love to see this in a group with El Dorado, Apache Chief etc.

Nicely done, great to see an Asian superhero being represented. Your build almost inspired to try to tackle that costume myself except I don't have long enough hair and I just don't think that I'd be comfortable running around a con wearing what amounts to a diaper for pants.

I like your Samurai costume. I saw that YouTube video a few years ago and thought it was hilarious! Keepin' the Super Friends memory alive forever! Way to go!
