Russrep Emitter Shipment

Is there anyone besides me that has NOT received their emitter yet? I'm on the East Coast (USA) and I haven't gotten mine yet. My understanding is that they were all shipped out on June 12th. I hope mine isn't lost....

What are your guys' thoughts? I haven't received anything international in years...so I don't know what to ecpect in terms of transit/shipping time. When should I start to worry? Thanks

I didn't get mine but not worried.

I would think they would all be here sometime this week. I'm in TEXAS.

Glad to see some responses. Two things:

1) I'm glad I'm not the only one that hasn't received the shipment. That assures me a bit. Any more folks not get theirs either yet?

2) I don't understand the route that these international shipments take. It's odd that some people got theirs 3 days after it was shipped and others still havent gotten theirs. There's a big difference in range (ie: 3 days - a few weeks). I wonder why....

I live in Tasmania and haven't got mine yet LOL But I am not worried. Russ is ok....it'll be the posts fault! LOL

I have no doubts about Russ. The guys running this project are all good folks and a pleasure to deal with! They've been nothing but nice to me.

If there IS a problem, it'll definately be the post's/delivery-service's fault (or customs). Question is, with no tracking info on the packages, how do they hunt it down and file a claim on a lost package? I don't think it's come down to it being lost. I'm just trying to get my facts straight.

Here's the general route an international package takes:

Sender's local post office -> sender's local post depot -> sender's central post depot (usually in a location near a major international airport) -> sender's customs department -> sender's central post depot -> receiver's central post depot -> receiver's customs department -> receiver's central post depot -> receiver's local post depot -> receiver's local post office -> receiver's address

Having shipped to, and received stuff from US, UK and a few EU countries, I can tell you that there's no hard and fast rule when it comes to delivery times.

I have received items from USA in 10 days while something from the UK which was shipped earlier took 3 weeks to arrive, and had the opposite happened at other times.

Sometimes its due to backlog of mail at the sender's local depot, the senders central depot, or the receiver's local or central depot.

Or customs may just hold onto your stuff a little longer while they decide if they want to tax you for it, or release it to you or not. I've had items sitting in my local customs for three weeks, but eventually released to me.

Hang in there, you'll get it soon enough.

I think the reason I received mine so quickly is I am right next to the Oakland Main Post office. I was rather surprised it arrived so quickly.

Hang in there,

Most likely a customs issue, most stuff goes through quite quickly in my experience.

BUT, that said, there are some postal districts which have a lot of theft. In those places, it's a good idea to start making noise when a package goes missing, because sometimes packages magically reappear when noise is made. Like someone set it aside to see if anyone notices, and if noone does, they open their little 'gift'.

That's a pretty wild ride for a package. International shipments are prone to this kind of thing I suppose. What does customs do in if they decide not to release it? Do they keep it, chuck it, etc?

I'd like to get another emitter from Russ in case this one's a gonner. But I won't know for sure for another week or 2 or 3 for certain. I'm not sure if Russ'll have any spares by then.

All in all, I can see delays happening...it just sucks :wacko

Well...what tracking/noise can I really do without having a tracking number? Do I just call my local USPS and give them my name and address?

I offered Russ some extra cash to send mine via a trackable carrier because I know how shady post offices can be. He never got back to me on my request...

You worry to much Moe.
Get another one anyway, this thing is beautiful.

If it’s not there by the end of this week just call your local post office, describe the package and when it was shipped. Ignore whatever they say and just make sure that they understand that you’re watching out for it. Then ask them for the phone number for the postal inspector’s office. :D

Customs won’t send it back. The worst they’ll do is hit you up for duty and I’ve not heard of that happening with this sort of stuff before. The delay is just a delay, it’s not a sign of something ominous (at least not as far as customs is concerned). :)

Good thinkin Andres! Here's a description of my mini-adventure today:

So I walked down to my USPS and tell them I'm expecting a package from the UK sent via Royal Mail. The guy looked around in the back area and told me he's got nothing under my name. I asked him if there's ANYTHING I can do without a tracking number and he replies, "sorry, but it looks like you're out of luck if it doesn't appear in the next few days." I said thanks and asked for the number to the United States Postal Inspection Service. He gave me 877.876.2455.

I figured, like Andres said, I'd go in there and show them I'm no chump (I should have popped in with a lightsaber and Jedi outfit to show them I mean business). I'll probably fill this out at some point if need be: http://postalinspectors.uspis.gov/forms/mlntrcvd.aspx

I really wish Russ would have taken extra cash from me for tracking/insurance. In any case, If I don't get anything by the end of the week, I'll get another emitter from Russell.

Aside from lessons on how to deal with the USPS, this is all the sort of stuff that usually just stays in the background. I am sure Russ will work with you on this.

If every vendor got to have the blow-by-blow details of the first few weeks after something shipped paraded here, the number of threads would double :lol ;)

Trust me Andres...This thread is geard towards carriers/customs. For the little time I've known you guys (Howard, you, and Russ), you've treated me with nothing but respect, honesty, and courtesy. I trust you guys and understand you're here to help. This is a community of collectors who are passionate about collecting and so we understand each other well.

I have no doubt you guys will be there for me and other RPFers :)
