RPF start page

As a content designer and son of someone who was blind, our main index page really frustrates me.

It's really bad accessibility and design to have a clickable image (with no alt text) and for the text to say "Click the icon above...". This doesn't work well for screen readers - and wouldn't meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0.

It's also bad form to use block capitals as this is difficult for people with dyslexia to read.

It would be great if you could:
  • removed the link from the image
  • add alt text to the image - something like "Image of the RPF logo"
  • change the text underneath just to "Enter the RPF forums" and make this clickable
  • change the remaining text to sentence case
Making these changes would make our forum's first page much more accessible and usable for all.

Thanks

Dreamscape, thank you for the feedback. We will put these changes on the list. Honestly, the frontpage is simply a placeholder. I'd like to have something designed that is a lot more thorough, but there is no reason we can't implement your change suggestions as a stop-gap until we get a new page.
