Damn hackers :angry

Could be invisionzone upgrading.?
[/b][/quote]

If this is an upgade issue then it's a total screw up. The least we should have received was a heads up as we have had on previous occasions when there's been upgrades.

Even the staff doesn't know what's going on.

This was not another hack.

Just want to make that clear so people don't freak out about new viruses. :) This was a utilization issue due to a software upgrade that we didn't request, and weren't advised of until yesterday, that the host put in to try and prevent any future hacks.

Unfortunately, we don't know how stable it's going to be for the immediate future until we can get some specific answers about what the code problem was and how it was fixed. Until then, we are watching closely to report if looks like it's starting again.

That was very thoughtful of them to let us know what's going on prior to taking action....GEEZ.

All brands of computers are vulnerable - including MACs. Sure, Windows PCs have more issues, but MACs are not immune.

No offense paradox but the battle cry of pc users.. "macs are too vulnerable" just doesn't hold water. Yes there is some chance that a mac virus may hit, but in reality it just doesn't happen. Even if you can find one, two or even ten occurrences of someone running into a mac virus it in no way compares to the daily onslaught of the 1000's of pc/microsoft security issues.
We have 2 macs and 2 pc's here at home. I just look at them as tools and the pc's are great for games, dvd's, etc., the mac is the way to go online for a hassle free experience.

Not trying to start a debate here just passing on my experience of working with both machines at work and at home.
(jumps off soap box ;) )

You misread/misunderstood my post.

EchLeader, if you are so unhappy with the way the staff runs the RPF, perhaps you would be happier elsewhere. I feel the staff is doing an outstanding job, and I come here (as any other place on the web) knowing full well that nothing is foolproof and stuff just happens. I take the risk every time I sign on ANYWHERE. In the many years I've been here I recall this only heppening twice and both times the staff was on it post haste. Again, I'd hate for you to stay somewhere that you are so unhappy.

I didn't read Echleader as attacking the rpf staff, more so that he was commenting on the lack of invisionzone informing the staff/and or us as members of their upgrade to prevent future hacks.

:confused

Yes, I'm in full agreement on that. I'll give them the benefit of assuming they were just trying to help but they went about it the wrong way, extremely wrong, and I'm still far from happy about it.

If you re-read my post I wasn't attacking the staff here in any way, shape or form. In the "many" years I have been here yes, the staff always let us know ahead of time when there were any upgrades that were going to happen. I always appreciated the heads up. My concern this time around was that absolutely no one including the staff here were informed of what was to happen hence my comment on poor communication.

PS. Thanks for your concern on my happiness but I'll stick around.

Can you retitle the thread and post this info first. If you start reading the thread as is you will get the wrong impression. Miss information is worst then no information.

I was offline the whole weekend anyways... but if I had been well I don't know what I would have done with no RPF. :(

You would have gone insane... like the rest of us. :lol

It soundslike that all is return to normal with this situation. But here are some open source software that can be used to scan the machine. Clamwin (make sure you set your preferences to quarantine the file) its take a while to run but it is thorough even an option to scan memory. Also Spybot and Adaware are another free spyware removal software.

I'm unsticking this thread so the "Verify your email" thread is more prominent.

Most people have checked for viruses, so priority at this point is email verification.
