Royal Guard Helmets

Hi I was wondering if anyone here is able to make vacuforms or fiberglass castings of the Emperor's Royal Guard helmet? I've been trying to find an old Don Post or a fan-made one for a reasonable price and I'm just not having any luck.

Anyone?

Ill tell you what. I dont know the first thing about this, but, if you can find someone on this board that we can all trust, and Im really hoping they read this and come forward, I will send my don post royal gaurd helmet to them and they can make a limited run of masks, and ill get my original back, and you can get your copy, and they can have a few masks to sell. and maybe the two of us can chip in and send the cost of materials to whoever is up to doing this? I hope someone is willing and will work out a deal with both of us. If I knew anything about vaccuforming or fiberglass Id do this for you just cus I thought Mandalore looked cool.

A couple of people have graciously come forward to offer their helmets up for casting, which is awesome--this is such a cool community that I'm really really glad to finally be a part of (ok, done gushing about the RPF now.). The trick now is to find somebody who can do the deed.

Anyone? Seems like there'd be a fair amount of interest in a run of these...

Just a question: Isn't the DP undersized compared to the real prop? Any way of scaling it up in the molding process and still retain the sharp details? Or is that just a ludicrous question?

As with all the non-deluxe DP helmets, I'm sure it is undersized. If we could size it up during molding, that would be terrific. It's not a deal-breaker for me either way, but assuming it's not too much extra work, that would be fantastic.

If someone has a more accurate sized copy, we could cast that instead. Otherwise it means doing a new sculpt, using an existing helmet as a guide. I might need a few $ for supplies versus a free casting later. We can work out the details after we see who has a helmet to loan out for the project.

My RG helmet is made of FG and I think is larger. It fits me and I have a big knogen.

You made it yourself or did you buy it from someone?

Dont know which thread we want this in, but i am in for at least one helmet pending the price and if the price is right, i would be in for 2 of them. Probably unfinished/kit form if possible to save on money. Cant wait to see what we all come up with. If anything is needed please contact me if you need some help. Unofrtunately i dont have a helmet and dont know how to cast.

I could however manage the run intrest and the payments if you need someone of that sort. I have a good rep here and on ebay as a buyer and seller of many years. My ebay feedback
thanks and keep this project coming

Pending final cost I would be VERY interested in 1-2 of them. Please keep us posted on the progress of this please. Even unfinished I'd be interested in if I needed to paint them or something to save costs. All for it.

THANKS IN ADVANCE...

just a thought, would it be possible to either vac form it in red plastic or in red gelcoat if fg, it would save on any more painting, or make a nice base for the paint to go on as the chips wouldnt show so bad, I used to have a royal guard helmet that was red gelcoat and it buffed up great

This would work fine for me--I'm planning on making mine into a KOTOR-style Mando helmet like the ones pictured in my other thread, but it's going to be red so doing it in royal guard red would be fine by me. I'd also prefer mine in kit form since I'm going to give it a Fett-style beat-up appearance.

The bigger question to me is, are we going to make these helmets with the vertical slit like the KOTOR helmets or do straight Royal Guard helmets, then leave each of us to customize them into KOTOR style if we want?

Since this thread seems to be the one we're all gravitating towards, here's a reference photo for the KOTOR helmet I'm talking about:

I am in only if we do the regular OT style royal guard. No vertical slit for me.
sorry, its a cool look though
