The guys at WF said there was a nearby dealer that had an unopened Cygnus for $450. lol Time to sell your stash of old BH kits.Great news as I have been wanting a Max forever. Vincent too and now no evilbay prices!
I hope they decide to release the Cygnus in amber tinted clear styrene- the lighting was so much of that ships design. I painted my original kit in metallic gold to try and simulate that look
In the video from months ago, I got the impression they hadn't even looked at the molds yet.Any idea WHN these will be released?
I've seen pre-order pages for them but no listing as to the release date!
This is exactly what I did with mine - a couple of red LEDs being driven with a slow "throb" by a microcontroller povered by a lithium coin cell that all fits easily inside Max's head. Held in place with a small magnet to facilitate battery removal when necessary. Also, a lighting kit for this will be dead simple, just a red LED, maybe slightly pulsing.
As I understand it from someone I know was there, they were told by the rep that the Cygnus molds were in a LOT worse shape than expected. Might have to be rebuilt. Might be out next year was this guys impression.A few people who attended Wonderfest asked R2 about the Black Hole re-pops, and they mentioned "problems with the molds", but hoped for a late year re-release. I wonder what the problems were? Lost/damaged molds?
They did mention trying to make Cygnus more accurate, possibly molding it in clear. The Vincent and Max kits were acceptable for what they were, but the Cygnus kit had some fairly serious differences from the movie model.
That begs the question: If the Cygnus requires new molds, is it cost effective to start from scratch? As I understand it from someone I know was there, they were told by the rep that the Cygnus molds were in a LOT worse shape than expected. Might have to be rebuilt. Might be out next year was this guys impression.
