Round2 to repop The Black Hole Cygnus, Maxmilian and Vincent kits

That begs the question: If the Cygnus requires new molds, is it cost effective to start from scratch?
Of course want to see it reissued, if for no other reason to see what incredible modelers out there do with it. But I'm also conflicted.

The Cygnus was, I think, the only movie model I've ever seen that could only be movie-accurate via 3d printing. The ones here on RPF are proof. It's just zillions of girders, perfect for 3d printing, but not injection molding. Only the tower, the engines and a few odds and ends look good in injection molding. The rest is just a mesh of crossbars etc.

Guess that would depend on how bad they are. Has R2 ever started from scratch on any mold or just done repops?
They have created many brand new kits. The problem, in my view, is they have a rather limited budget and many properties: Star Trek, Star Wars, U.F.O. and now The Black Hole.

Edit:

Round2 has said that the estimated cost of tooling a Y-wing was high. I can only imagine that the Cygnus would be even higher.

Not to mention the cost for the license itself -- especially for any huge IP like Star Wars/Trek, or anything Disney. They got away with reissuing versions of Pirates of the Caribbean/Haunted Mansion stuff because it's pretty generic. I wish they could do that for the many old kits that are locked out because of licensing issues.

Round 2 owns the names/ brands like Polar Lights, AMT, MPC etc...

They have put out some impressive new tools for both Space 1999, and Star Wars under the MPC and AMT brand as well as repopping and/or updating old AMT and MPC releases
