Round2 Acquires Star Wars License

For me, I think the most important thing is that R2 is making a real effort to base their newly-tooled kits on the filming miniatures. In the past, only FineMolds and Bandai seemed to go to great lengths in that regard. Accuracy is now paramount (within reason and budget of course), making the finished product much more authentic and less "toy like." I think that's a huge step forward and it makes a lot of sense given the changes in the target market. After all, very few youngsters are into models these days and it's now mostly middle-aged adults who were kids when the original films first came out.
Ah,to be middle aged again!

Revell did release a 1:29 X-wing. I wonder how those will be together.

I thought it was a ‘not great’ kit,but big. I can’t remember why I didn’t pick it up. I did get their sexual X but it needs a lot of work and is a bit small for my taste. Like I don’t have stacks of projects and need more kit…..I need more kits.

You would be surprised how many younger people are building models. There are a lot, but they are using platforms like Instagram and TikTok to display their work. In the Gundam work there is a lot of young people, and in historical modelling a ton. I think it’s because they don’t use forums or facebook to share stuff it seems like they aren’t there.
I mostly share my stuff on Instagram and I don’t have a Facebook account.

Yep. My local model shop is probably 80% Gundam models now.

I'm *very* glad to hear at least some young folks are still interested in models! :D Of course, we're talking Star Wars kits here. So, in this case at least, the target market has now shifted from kids to mostly middle-aged adults.

OMG I can't wait to build this! I've found one nit pic so far and correct me if I'm wrong: Aren't the sparrow missile fins at the top of the cockpit frame supposed to attach directly to the window frame? It's a simple fix but just thought I would ask.

I give up. What's wrong with his paint job?
To each his own.

I only skimmed the video and looked at the final pics. Seems OK. Too much weathering?

At least it doesn't have a my little pony... pony on the cockpit. :D

Edit: The silver window frame was a bit much.

The rear window should be black, the body color just looks wrong, IMHO.
