I compared the ratios of the three sets of measurements 3, 4, and 5 (distance from edge to ball post, thickness of ball post, and distance between ball posts) to this image and one of them was pretty much a dead on match. Anyone want to check my work?



(Sadly, when I scale the saber to 1.496 inches thick, measurements of the ball catch in the photo are just a bit bigger than The Ninja's data. You're welcome to check that too!)

Is this part cast, hence a drift in the exact measurements as the mold degrades over time? I know Ninja's latch and the one on the prop aren't exactly the same-- but the fact he found it on an MPP came... I mean it HAS to be from there...

It's stamped and folded sheet metal.

Interesting. I'd wondered what you'd looked at to come to that conclusion, since that wasn't the one I found had the best proportions.

I think he means the one on the saber prop. If there were shrinkage, that could explain the discrepancy between your measurements and The Ninja's.

My measurements show the prop's ball catch is larger than The Ninja's catch with the most correct proportions.

Cast Vintage Double Ball Latches

I have been talking with Jerry trooper who we all know does amazing casts, about offering casts of the 2x vintage Latches I found on the R.A.F. MPP Micro Technical S92 Ground Camera Kit Cases, Jerry would be happy to offer these if there is enough interest so I thought I would put it out there for comment, if there is enough interest I will start an Interest Thread, thanks...

I'd be shocked if interest so low that ten was an issue, but I would personally buy up to ten just to have the run happen.
