Roman's ESB Graflex?

Okay, so I finally got a real replica Graflex from Roman''s by way of the junkyard. It's everything I hoped for, if not a little heavier than I expected. But on some level it's a little underwhelming. Anticlimactic even. Don't get me wrong, the saber is flawless and accurate in every conceivable way, but it leaves me somewhat.. Unsatisfied.

Those of you who've followed my hardware builds can attest to the quality of my work (or lack thereof), but holding the replica in hand , apart from the aforementioned weight difference, doesn't seem much different. My work is far from perfect but somehow seems no less credible than the legit replica.

It's kind of the same way with my two Obi ANH sabers. The machined version, which I mostly just assembled is cool, but the mostly hardware version (apart from the resin cast grenade) holds a place nearer to my heart.

Maybe it's the reflection of the effort, and journey, that makes it subjectively better. I feel even if I got a vintage Graflex, I wouldn't think of it any differently. I'm sure nobody else would feel the same about my questionable handiwork, but that doesn't change how I feel. Anybody else feel like this, or is it just me?

I can relate to what you’re saying. I spent 2 months building a Denix based DL44. I love that blaster because of the time and craftsmanship invested. I bought a version IV graflex hilt from Roman Props during the May the 4th promotion. It’s an excellent recreation down to the RAF codes. But I haven’t even spent the time to get a stand for it. It will be displayed but doesn’t have the same connection as the DL44.
