Roland Deshain's Revolvers from The Dark Tower Movie

Yep, I used a set of really old blueprints and screen measurements.

An earlier post in this thread states that the screen used props were enlarged by 20% over the size of the actual gun they are based off of. If that's true, you may want to revise your blueprints. Of course if you know the general size of Idris Elba's hands and you scaled it from that then perhaps you don't need to, lol.

Yeah I saw that post, the only thing that ever showed up as dimension changes where the internal bore of the barrel and chamber. Also on the stunt prop (which is what's in the most current pictures) he increased the trigger guard size. But as far as the hero gun the trigger guard was the same as the original. That's the crazy thing about trying to finalize each thing that will be on a replica. Mix between, stunt and hero.

I thought they should have the big caliber, like the Ruger .45 black powder, modified for .45 long colt. IMHO

The guns are not actually 1858 Remington revolvers. The man who built the weapons for the film posted on reddit (I think) and stated that while they were based on the 1858 visually, they are in fact an original build made 20% larger than a 1858 remington, and they have swing out cylinders and a double action trigger system. The stuff under the barrel has no function.

Based on what we've seen in the trailers since I started this thread, I don't think they are real guns that fire blanks at all.

Yeah, it's mostly an 1858 Remington, with the 1875 Remington ramrod assembly. It would be really hard to convert an actual firing revolver into one of these with swing out cylinders that neither of the historical revolvers ever had. Even when the cartridge conversion kits for the 1858 came along, they were just cylinder replacements, like the ones the Preacher used in Pale Rider

If you watch the trailer here:

You can see him reloading by throwing full-moon clips in the air, then he reloads by running the gun next to the individual cartridges on his belt and them into the cylinder with his thumb, then he spins the cylinder and quickly drops the cartridges in.

Sigh.

Stephen King is one of my favorite writers, but, man, he sure knows nothing about guns... It's always been like that in all of his books. I humbly volunteer to be his "Arms Consultant." LOL

This Pietta is a firing revolver, and costs less than a Blade Runner Blaster. LOL.

Pietta Model 1858 New Army .44-Caliber Black Powder Revolver : Cabela's
King did not know his guns, but hey, he is not a gun authority he's a writer..they look like 63 Remmies but that loading system is dubious at best..I think all the firing is CGI ..movie guns in my day went bang with a blank, but that's how wet the industry is now ..
