Rogue Trooper's equipment!

Hello everyone! Rogue Trooper has been another fav character of mine from 2000AD so after receiving Helm (rogue's helmet) as a birthday present some time ago I decided to build the other 2 pieces, Gunnar and Bagman (gun & bagpack). Here are some current WIP pics of Gunnar and a pic of Rogue i'm using for reference, enjoy!

nice idea - one of my favourite 2000 AD characters too, should have been picked up for the big screen treatment long ago, imo. Been thinking of making Sam Slade's robot cigar Stogie recently - ah... the old days!

About time someone made this,i've only ever seen Gunner made before by custom creations, how are you going to cover Gunner, and will you do Major magnum

Thanks for your comments guys, I agree with you Blipper on I have no idea why Rogue hasn't been made into a movie yet. I reckon a movie on Rogue Trooper would be a success for fans and non fans alike. Lots of back story and great characters as well as weapons to please everyone. Making Sam Slade's stogie eh, would love to see that, let us know if you decide to make it with some pic's of course!

Thanks for that great pic of Major Magnum, Mad Max, I had forgotton Rogue using him in that story. Gunnar will be covered with MDF and I will try out different paint colours (green, brown and camo) on paper first before choosing a colour and painting the MDF. I will have a go at making Major Magnum probably after i've finished Gunnar and Bagman, watch this space!

Thanks, i'll check it out. Here are 2 pics with the shroud on, just need to round the bottom edges and smaller end of the gun. Looking at these pic's now i'm not overly happy with the proportion of the magazine in relation to the gun, might have to make it chunkier. What are your thoughts?

Some more pic's as promised featuring a bigger better magazine and how the gun is progressing thus far. Needs some more filling and sanding as well as the curved pieces on each side that will also have a lens and electronics so it lights up. Out of interest does anyone know what those curved pieces are on the gun or what they were used for? I could never find any info on this and it was never explained (to my knowledge) in any of Rogue's stories why they were there?

wow dude this is one of the most worthwhile projects i've seen in a while (imho of course) there's nowhere near enough Rogu Trooper stuff out there!

p.s. any cahnce of seeing the helm?

Respect
P.

I'm sure the side sights are for infared, possibly a motion sensor ,i also read some where that Gunner,Bagman and Helm can work with each other as a team and as seen in Rogue trooper independant of Rogue.
This has inspired me to finally start my own Gunner, just hope the weather in south london doesn't let me down:lol:lol:lol:lol

Helm was made by Jason Wilbourn, a modeller and prop maker as a hobby piece for himself. Check out his site, www.stentorindustries.com he has made lots of other items. The helmet was bought by my partner as a birthday present and since then have wanted to make the other pieces of equipment. I aim to have a go at making Helm myself after i've finished Gunnar and Bagman just to see if I can do just as good a job as Jason.

Infrared sights as a motion sensor is a good idea Madmax and also makes sense in the practical sense. Good luck on your own attempt at Gunnar, I used to live in South London so you should get some sunny weather throughout the week. Post some WIP pic's when you get going, be great to see your version!

Progress pic's of Gunnar. I have built and attached the side sensors as well as building and painting the gun sight on top. After looking at the previous pic's and proportion of the flash muzzle in relation to the gun I realised it wasn't wide enough. So, I scrapped it and built a bigger better one, just need to add trim to the end of the gun where my hand goes in then it's painting time!

Project finished, gunnar completed, wasn't happy with the brown so painted it army green instead!

Rifle sling will be added when it comes in the post!!
