Rocketeer Rocketpack 3D printed

Looks AMAZING! Is this thing built to scale with the film or scaled down by a bit? (The original is so damn big)

Thank you for the compliments! This is scaled to be the same as the real thing, and you are correct, it is very large! Billy Campbell, who was the actor in the film, is 6'3"... So for those of us who aren't that big, I can see how it can look ginormous.

Ok guys.. The 3D design is ready for actual testing. Gonna print up the piece on my 3D printer and see how it goes [emoji3]

Printed up the main parts of the buckle and learned a few things about fitment. Gonna go back to the model, change a few things, and try again [emoji3]

So I need some help figuring out the latch system for the upper buckle. I know the buttons pivot in the slide and catch on body some how but my problem is making the buttons spring loaded... this is what I have thus far. Any ideas?

The buttons just push in, towards the buckle, they don't have any other movement. It looks like that just pivot from the rivet tube, there must be a catch at the top key hole area to hold them in under spring pressure. Also there are 2 springs on top of the buckle that help spring the buckle back closed. If you have Facebook, find me and I'll send you a video.

Thank you again to Untinni for sending me more pictures and even a video of the buckle. All I can say is that those buckles internals are far more complicated that I ever thought. So, I am attempting to simplify them but I have two ideas for how to spring loaded the side buttons and wanted another set of eyes.
Option 1 uses Springs in chambers and a plate that acts as a sliding surface.

Option 2 uses a double pinch method where both are using the same inner spring as resistance and the spring slides along the inner chamber

If you guys have better ideas, I'm all ears!

You're welcome! It's a tough piece to replicate, but you've done an outstanding job so far! If you need any other pictures or measurements please let me know!

So, when I design a piece, I try to use components that are easily and readily available. So, for the rivets used to stop the slide, I chose to use finishing nails which can be trimmed after installation

Also, made some more progress printing up the engine. Gonna need to add more details once it's done printing but so far I'm happy.

I mentioned on you FB page, for the "springs chambers" picture the distance from the strap hole to the stopper wall is 15mm.

The width of that piece is 57mm. Length is 49mm, thickness is 6.2mm. the strap hole is 49.4 x 9.3mm

Hey Gang ! Got the locking portion of the upper harness working and so I decided to make a quick demo video! I'll post more as the work progresses

Need help with measurements for the flaps. I have them rendered but uncertain their exact dimensions.
