Rocket Clock

In the movie The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl there are a couple of scenes where the main character has an alarm clock in the shape of a rocket that I'm looking to build. Before I go off and build the rocket from scratch I'm wondering if anyone knows what toy or objects it could have possibly been built from.

I'm guessing the SBLG prop is a lot smaller, but I just yesterday discovered that a company called Pegasus Hobbies is about to release several really cool model kits, including something called "Apollo 27", which actually looks more like an old 50s sort of rocketship like the alarm clock. Of course this model is 27 inches long! :lol

But it looks easy to modify into all sorts of cool rocketship designs, particularly if you replace the engine supports and the engine pods with something sleeker and more aerodynamic looking. :thumbsup

Looks like it could be an old model rocket of some sort. I remember having a water powered one when I was a kid that looked similar (but of a simpler design).

I have also seen small LED clocks that are in rocket casings. But they were only a couple of inches long.

Thanks for the info guys. I was able to get in touch with the creator of the clock. The whole thing was custom and I think I have enough info to recreate it.

Any info you wanna share with everyone else?

Looks a little like the rocket Tintin traveled to the moon with.

I wasn't sure how much interest there was in this.

An old co-worker told me that the rocket clock was designed by Troy Engel who has been very helpful in answering my questions. You can see some production photos here: http://troyengel.com/html/rocketclock.html

The clock he built and the one that was used in the movie have different electronics. I'm waiting to do that part last because the one actually used in the movie can't show times past 9:59.

I'll post photos when I'm done.
