Robotic voice changer for Portal personality cores

Hey guys,

Got a project coming up of some personality cores and I really want to fit in a real time voice changer. Doesn't have to be anything too fancy as you can see from here All quotes from Portal 2's "Space" sphere - YouTube It's just a simple robotic sound.
I found one real time iphone app that had a voice that sounded great but unfortunately it didn't work with external speakers. I've looked at places like Hyperdyne but that's really out of my price range. . . Any ideas?

Thanks heaps,

Silk

Well, the original voices were created using Melodyne, so if you wanted recreate the voices exactly you're going to have to get that program and run it in like FL Studio or something. GlaDOS is a bit more complex but the Space Core is just the formant raised up like 2 semitones.

Why doesn't the iphone app work with external speakers? Pretty sure that you can get one of those battery powered mini speakers and just plug it into the headphone jack. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Yeah I'd use Melodyne if it was in real time, but unfortunately it's not. The app specifically doesn't work with external speakers for some reason :(

Anyone else?

Hi sylkin

What's the name of the iPhone app that won't work with speakers? I have a couple of them, but never tried it with speakers plugged in. I'm hoping it's not one I've got, or I might need to start looking again :/

Voicemod. If you have ones that work please please tell me! What are you voicing?

For realtime changing, I use one called voice lab. It's pretty good and has quite a few FX to choose from, though it's not as good as some that need recording first. The bonus with it though is there's only about a 1/4 of a second delay between you speaking and the sound being played. It also work through speakers, I just checked it out :thumbsup

There's a lite (free) version you can check out first, I had that one installed for ages.

I've been slowly planning an Abraxas costume from the Tron evolution game (including the disc, and maybe a shard)

I've sourced all the materials, and a company that can cut/make the EL shapes needed for his cape, but it's slow going working out the build process details and wiring schematics in my little free time, but it'll get there eventually :thumbsup

Thank you! Found a great couple voices in that app. The speakers work too although they're quite quiet and unclear, my voice is still heard very clearly over it. Does your speakers sound good?

Thanks heaps, the voice changer will really help to add the wow factor. Nice costume idea too!

Cool, glad you found it useful. Not sure why the volume is quiet for you on the speakers, I had to turn my phone down (that will effect the volume a lot), and the stereo down so it didn't get feedback.
