Robocop - Foam Build

I know there's someone out there I think in the UK that sells Vacuformed armor after I talked to a Robocop costumer at D*C, but I did'nt know there was a fiberglass armorer.

Not yet - I've been busy on something else until last weekend for a con.
I'll be getting back to Robocop this weekend.

I'll be taking picture of other parts that were finished but I never posted and will try to put something together for the templates I made.

@Camtrack: This is a foam build and as you can see in my first post - I didn't need or use pep files. I made my own templates.

Yeah, I am leaning towards foam now because after making my armor from pep, it just takes too long and I am just tired of folding, cutting and glueing and fiberglass and bondo and yadda yadda yadda. You are a true master of foam! Can't wait to see what you have up to this point.

Hey Liberty - glad to see you here.
You should try making armor with foam - I find it easier than pep... well maybe not easier, but not as boring :)

Well - a little update on my side.
Finally got around to taking picture of the stomach and back black armor:

Not a lot to show - but I will finish this one before the end of the month... so other updates are on the way.

Also - people have been asking about my templates and I finally got around to taking care of this too. Since most of my piece are bigger than my scanner, I decided to go with pictures. I've tried to keep them at the same aspect ratio (always taking the picture at the same height from the table where the templates were layed on... but I've got to say, this is *not* exact science... so tweaking is to be expected.

But here is the link to the template album I've got up on Photobucket: Templates

I will be spending time in the next few days building a set of "instruction" to go with the templates... some are kind of easy to figure out - others might really seem confusing without actually knowing how to put them together. I plan on having a fun PDF file ready in a week or so with the picture included in there with clear instructions on how many of each you need for a full costume and how they should be assembled... bear with me guys - we are getting there slowly.

For those who are going to have a look at those templates right now - be advised that there are some duplicates pictures (one with flash and on without flash). Also, since I've freehanded the feets, I haven't got templates for everything. Finally, I haven't finished the gloves yet, so no templates for those too. (well not for now at least).

Enjoy!

Well - here is the final update on this one.
I got a couple of picture of the final product before the client came and picked it up and this is what it looked like:

The client promised me he would so some kind of semi-pro photoshoot with this costume and he would send me some of the picture... I'll update the thread here when I get them :)

Thanks guys for the great comments !!!

Can't wait for the pictures myself - I know who my client will contact to take those pictures and that guy is an artist with a camera. Don't know when this is going to happen though, might be a little while.

Wow that's really awesome man! I never imagined foam could look this good. :) Can't wait to see the pics soon.

This is going to be amazing when finished. With all the Iron Man suits on this site I'm surprised no one else has done this. I'm going to have to dig up the pics of the posterboard Robo Cop costume I made as a teen back in 1999.
