Re: robo3687's Pep Files -Iron Man Mk IV/VI & more...

the 3d model will be exactly the same in pepakura, its the pattern itself that flips. As long as you flip the pattern and make sure it all fits on the pages correctly you'll be fine

Quick question for all you.
I made what i thought was the right thigh but it turned out to be the left one! anyway my question is, in robos files if i open up the thigh one does the "invert pattern" need to be checked in order for it to be the right thigh?
just so i dont make two left thighs!

ei guys how many layers of resin inside and outside should i apply for the helmet and other parts?

Re: robo3687's Pep Files -Iron Man Mk IV/VI & more...

apply 1 to 2 layers outside first, then apply 2 layers of resin plus fiberglass inside. one layer of fiberglass is still flexible. i would first cut large patterned pieces for layer one, then small squares for layer 2 for strength.

NOTE: be sure to soak the glass beyond the piece so when you cut off the excess, u dont get fibers at the edge.

ok....halloween is fast approaching and i don't know why i'm not working on my armour and instead blogging heheheh.

i got too excited after i finished painting and had to show you guys to show you guys what it would look like and keep you all motivated

Re: robo3687's Pep Files -Iron Man Mk IV/VI & more...

that looks awesome mmkw

thanks robo. its nice knowing that the person who created the project is still very involved with all his "followers/builders"

now to the most challenging part......putting it all together ehehehe and doing the electronics.

btw... if anyone was wondering i used a combination of mark 4 and mark 6 colours. it was just personal preference. I really wish i could find a chrome/mettalic red but to have that made up and ready before halloween was very unlikely so i went with a store bought metallic red. I wish it was a bit darker though. It looks lighter in the pictures due to the warm light source.

is it ok if i don't use fiberglass mat? i don't have it yet ehe

Well I'll tell ya I work with fiberglass every day, and ya you can go with out mat.... if your just going to look at it . If your going to put it on and go out in it you might want to mat it... its way stronger. less chance of cracking.... ya I know that means more work on your build , but it will pay off in the long run.

My turn to post an update. Feet, fingers, neck seal are still in the garage, to be painted. My 2nd helmet is drying (just did fibreglass cloth inside).

I need sleep, 3 hours and I have to be up for work lol.

Oh ya. Here's pics.

Skynet, you are slaying this build. That looks so badass and that helmet fits the scale much better i think. Your pieces don't appear to have much warpage at all from the resining stage. That can be quite tricky, excellent work.

This is just going to be a statue right? no costume? and are you planning on doing undersuit/joint pieces that cover all the open and exposed areas?
