River Song future sonic screwdriver dimensions please?

Good morning everyone. I'm looking to see if anyone can provide me with dimensions from the River Song sonic... I'd love any knowlege of the original prop... but if not I'd still love some dimensions of the toy if you could measure it out for me.
I've always thought the sonic was an intruiging prop and the River Sonic is just straight up my alley as far as design goes!
Thanks in advance.

I'd think the best way to get the size of the real thing would be to scale it out from the diameter of the crackle handle based on measurements from the MFX sonic. If nobody's helped you out by the time mine shows up I'll Give you that measurement.

the river song sonic is the doctors normal sonic with a few bits added so the base dimensions remain the same.

I'd also like to hear any info about this prop possible.

Thanks a lot.

Contrary to popular belief, it is not a Ten style sonic with extras added on but a complete new build. The centre section was made to resemble the Ten sonic, but is wider and shorter and has different ridges. The emitter head is also brass and a different machining to Tens version. It lacks any slider at all. The rear of the sonic is completely different with brass rings, an O ring or two and a machined butt piece based on a felt tip pen lid.

Your best bet is to buy the CO version as it is pretty good dimension wise.

I actually plan to... probably tonight... but I always look for the screen used info whenever possible. I just think that this is the best design I've seen... sorry if that rocks the boat of some of the traditional crowd but I just love that design!
Can't wait to see if anybody turns anything up. Maybe I'll PM MFX and see if they know anything... since they're getting out of the replica biz.
Anybody got anything?!

MFX had nothing to do with the design. Exactly what info do you want that hasn't already been discussed? It is a great design. By far my favourite sonic design.

i saw this prop at the cardiff dr who exhibition
and the toy is as near as it can get
i was pretty amazed at how close it is to the prop

I can't remember for sure who sent me the pics, it might have been you, but yea, the real prop is really close to the toy. I'll probably make myself one eventually once I get some time in with my lathe and make sure i know what I'm doing first. Lack of moving parts should make it way easier than a Tennant sonic.

I have more, but I'm not sure it's ok for me to post them. If whoever sent me the pics checks this thread, let me know if it's cool. They're from that same exhibit though.

Okay... so next question. Anybody ever try to accurize the toy a bit? That's my next plan after the sonic contest. The flikr photo I think really gives a better idea as to the paint job. I gotta try to find a red lens for the top! Also looks like the patina is way to green on the toy. Will need to lighten that up to an aqua color. The end cap is a very flat black. And it looks like the crackle finish isn't as pronounced as it is on the toy... due to the fact that the toy finish is molded plastic I know.
Anybody have any really good luck with a brass paint that they like? Or know of a way to brighten the finish that is on the toy?
Also, does the toy appear to be painted plastic or is it more of a pigmented plastic?

I'm getting excited about this one after seeing that flikr pic!

Quite a few people have made better versions using the toy, and I think Birdie scratch built one too. If you search the forums I'm sure you'll find them as they are'nt that old.

It's pigmented plastic if it's anything like the regular sonics I've cut into. I have a few cans of the cream (or Eccleston) colored crackle paint and I've thought about repainting my toy, but I'd have to mask all the other parts, which is a real pain on that toy.

Unfortunateley those pics were stored on my now deceased laptop, but I pulled these low-res images from my Yourprops account:

I built mine quite a while before the toy version was released, using screencaps and a few BBC website pics, so it's not very accurate. Pretty sure I got the right power-meter, but that's probably the only thing that's more accurate to the original prop over the toy :)

It's a really cool toy, btw, probably the closest thing CO have released to an accurate prop replica, albeit in plastic.

I don't think they used the same paint on the River screwdriver. The effect is pretty different and the colour is off for any of the Plastikote paints. My original thought was that they actually used one of the CO screwdriver bodies. That size would also fit with the size of the power-meter.
