RIP Sir Ken Adam

Many of you likely don't know who he is but I guarantee you've seen his work. Some of the most memorable sets in film history. I've been a huge fan of Ken Adam for years and despite the fact he lived into his 90's this is very sad for me.

James Bond wouldn't have been the same without him, as well as other icons such as Doctor Strangelove.

He was a legend of cinema as well as real life, a German national who flew in WW2 with the RAF.

We lost a great man today. RIP Sir Ken Adam.

Do yourself a favour and google some of his work.

As I've said many times we're losing too many and replacing them with too few in Hollywood. These guys didn't need film schools to teach them as they were the pioneers, now forgotten and ignored by film schools only to have their memories kept alive by movie fans who recognize talent and class in a era of movies long since past.

Stating that Ken Adam is "forgotten and ignored by film schools" is a very uninformed statement.

Ken Adam was one of our heroes, and I really still regret that I missed my chance to meet him in person a few years ago when he held a lecture at the film school in Munich, Germany and if I recall correctly he was a regular teacher at filmschools in England. He held a lot of lectures, the books about his works, his work is due to its modernist nature and strong influence on production design and visual design a tent pole of teaching production design. His designs have been and are still referenced by a lot of modern movies. His war room design was so influential that you see a similar set up almost once per year in action movies. His Tarantula Room design with its signature cast shadow is copied and referenced time and time again, not to speak of villains lairs like Goldfingers Villa or transforming furniture. No Superspy movie of today does not reference or persiflage his designs.

Thank you for your work, Sir Ken Adam !!!

His work was ground breaking with some of my favourite films to his credit. At 95, although he is a great loss he certainly made the most of being here and didnt get takencbefore his time.

Rest in peace klaus and thank you so much for the memories which will live on.

When ever I found out he worked on a film I HAD to see it as I knew I would be blown away by his work.

Still amazed by the Volcano set on you, "Only live twice"
